He can run the show but he's better when Broughy isn't playing.

I think he gave us a few options in attack but 'route one' in defence.

True and if Brough is staying then losing Drew is not that bad. Don't think he ran the show often enough for a player of his class.

His defence on the whole was/is pretty poor.

Same did happen to us and again it was by Huddersfield.

Remember when the exact same thing was agreed with us with Michael DeVere only for Huddersfield to step in and steal the deal.

Maybe Salford will benifit because I don't think we missed much with DeVere.

Salford seem to be taking whinging to an artform. Mcrae must have poisoned the club to the core, his moan last week about being unlucky as they've lost a few by 6 or so points was sheer delusion.

As for the Drew saga, I seem to remember the talk was that originally we'd offered him big money for another year and that Cas offered him more. When that fell through, had we withdrawn our offer, or was it still on the table and Salford were also offering more (and if so, you'd assume Shudds were somewhere in the region)?

Intrigued as if so, I'm a little surprised so many clubs are offering a big last pay day. Great player on his day, but they are getting less and less frequent. He fits Shudds far more than Salford or Cas i suppose, he's based local and knows most of the set up, the problem that was Sharp has now gone, they can shield his defence, rest him as needed and use his experience to bring on Lunt (who from I've seen is preferable to Moore). Never get to the bottom of it though, there is a lot of smoke and mirrors in operation lately from clubs, itself shrouded in a thousand and one rumours.

disagree with j.t, last year had a few injuries but this year has played very well and turned a good few games around with his displays. thanks brad and good luck at shudds..hope you don't get stuck with the waste of skin!

TBH i dont think you ever had the intention of paying the figure that was banded round (125k), thats good for 1 year, even at mates rates with TM. but TBH i can't see Cas paying anyone anywhere near 125k.

Good move for the club, apart from a handful of games, drew has never shown the form he showed for huddersfield the first time around. He and brough dont get along and that shows on the field. In the past weve taken the sympathy vote on these aussies by giving them a new deal when really, they're pinching money and if we'd of kept drew, i think that would of been the case.

we need to be trying to atttract a player who respects broughy and who will let broughy be the 'big show'...i dont think drew was prepared to do that and thats where the trouble started.

when playing without Brough Drew has shown he is one of our best players and he has 1 of the best brains in the team. Great player!

Great old player. What you don't seem to get is that you can only have so many players and thus you have to balance the squad. If you had your way we would only sign players and never sell in which case we would have a squad of a 1000 some as old as time and need the income of an oil rich Arab state to pay them. Come on get a grip.

By my reckoning he has played in about 50% of the games available over the last 2 seasons. So he has hardly been a vital cog as I suspect we probably didn't win more than 50% of the games he played in or lose more than 50% of the ones he didn't. Out of those 50% he played in I doubt he was exceptional in more than 25% of those.

Now I'm not knocking him I think he has been a good signing. However those figures are not that stunning and at the age of 35 will only go down.

You could say the same about JD but he offers more than just game time.

shame that, done well this season for Wakey

Drew got unlucky in his first season with us. He got injured early on and missed alot of games, then coupled with a family bereavement which ensured he had to returned home he struggled to put back to back games together.

With a full off season we've seen what he can do. Early on in the season he was superb and we've seen the odd glimpse later in the season which suggests that while his body may not be upto week in week out football he still can unlock defences.

Although i do believe the club have made the right decision in not renewing his contract. Whilst a quality player, it's a risk to keep him here when the cap space can be used to retain some youngsters

Nah Snitch we should have kept bad losing him to bloody cas. We keep players like Hendo/Winterstein when we could keep snitch.

Do you know for a fact that they have both signed for next year or are just speculating?

Guessing here but i wouldn't be surprised if Snitch is on 3 times what Hendo is. Therefore i'd say it's beneficial to keep Hendo who can cover threequarters and forwards and to be fair has been playing very well.
