The left edge is still weak and soaks in tries, three I think last night but the overall change is refreshing to say the least

Don't agree really, they were down the left side of the pitch but I'd only say the last one was a genuine breakdown, the other two came from missed tackles much further infield. HKR chose to attack that side, possibly because there were two wingers defending or possibly because their best back was on that side.

If you watch the Cas game you'd say it was the right side that looked weak and the left solid, but the same players. It all depends imo on the opposition attacking formation and players as to which side gets more hammer.

We certainly look more potent in the opposition 20.
For a while, it was more a case of seeing how long it was before we made a mistake, with little or, at least, no apparent structure/idea.
Last night we scored a couple of excellent tries, rather than just the off the cuff stuff that we've had for most of the season
Could be down to attitude more than new ideas but, as you say, lets enjoy the ride.
For all sorts of reasons, it's been a torrid 2 1/2 seasons and if we can finish the season in form and now safe from the threat of relegation, it will help massively in the close season.
WE also need to see some fans returning to BV and nothing better than a home game against Leeds to do just that.

There have been a couple of subtle changes.
We are not running so much from acting halfback and getting at least one pass per play.
We are contesting the kicks on last tackle plays. For some reason we never did under CC.
Our line speed seems much better (mostly) but we seem to get caught offside a bit more often now too.

Our unforced error rate is still too high and we need to focus on better execution, but so far I am happy watching a team improve

I think it's too early to say whether anything has changed. Things do feel more optimistic going into the game this afternoon, but I don't think tou can make a judgement after 3 games. I think we had an element of luck against Wire, and whilst we pushed Cas close we did the same at home earlier in the season as well. The Hull KR result was massive and one I didn't see coming, but we were equally impressive against them at Belle Vue. Even when Chester won three in a row many fans were still calling for his head, so to say a corner has been turned after 2 from 3 is a tad premature. Having said that, I fancy a win for us this afternoon.

Well somethings changed.
H K R come for behind and then control the game.
Particularly after late changes and regular centres out.
Less silly penalties given away.
Then today managed to play to the full 80.
At 13 13 still managed to look like they wanted to put the game to bed.

The fact that we usually turn 4 points into six helps to make winning more likely in the close games.

What's good to see is that we are now learning to win after starting points down rather than capitulate as in recent times.

Dont think too much as changed other than confidence and maybe belief and there seems to be a more togetherness within themselves.i think we played better in the loss at headingley this year.our scramble defence was better though.we still look to be lacking in ideas near line and i think we coughed up the ball 3 times on first or second tackle in there 20 in first 20 mins.

But its great to be winning games and thats all that matters

If Chester had been relieved as head coach earlier in the season when it was obvious he'd lost the plot, with the performance of the team over the last 4 games we could possibly have made the playoffs. It's a long time since I saw a Wakefield side fight like they did today, against a side who will do anything they can get away with to get a result.

I think it's clear the general attitude has changed. More resolve and working for each other across the team.
And I'd say that in particular has improved our defense.

We still make errors with the ball but it matters less when we can hold our line until the next opportunity to attack.

Players just look more confident and taking charge of the situation at hand.
We have scored some great tries in the last few games.

It certainly looks like the half time team talk are more motivational than what we’re said in the previous coaches talks to instil that belief in the players .I felt more confident with the team coming out in the second half and gaining a win than I have done for a long time . Things go stale ,that’s a fact of life in sport and it certainly looks like poaching has given the players the shot in the arm that was needed to get them playing something like most on here knew they had in them . The big question is will it last ,I certainly hope so ,because I didn’t see grade 3 quality players( or whatever term its called on that pitch yesterday ) . I saw a team that dug in and played for each other and came home with a fantastic win against our more affluent neighbours ,and with a lot of our firepower sat on the sidelines watching . Get the motivation/ confidence right and get the players buying into it and you make it a whole lot easier .Hudds had a good win last night so should be a cracker next week and I for one can’t wait for it ,bring it on.

Good reading, all has merit & truths,however I do think some credit needs to be given to Andy Last who WP acknowledges has helped him & the players tremendously, a good assisstant is a must, trouble is, Andy is only contracted for this year !

When you look at the team we had out on the field today, it bears n o resemblance to what many would have thought would be our starting 17 at the beginning of the season. As individuals you'd have thought we had no right to really be in the contest, but to me the difference was we played as a team.
Our defence at times was magnificent, and Jordy Crowther (Don't anyone tell me he's not a valuable squad man!) led the way along with Eddie Battye -back to his best. Green has had his knockers on here but I thought he was a big solid prop for us. If he continues like that I'd like to keep him!

There are many things about Chester methods that all of us will never know.

But as a fan I think we can all agree that Chester was not a great speaker nor was his body language good. Many of his interviews were train wreck, even when we’d won. If that’s how he was with his players that’s a clue.

All Willie has to do is be a bit more positive, I suspect he’s a lot more positive.

That said it’s still the honeymoon period.
