The quality and depth at 6 and 7 was always a concern. Miller is a poor half and Finn is an average Joe who seems to be ineffective in a poor side. Still Cas are a top six club Trinity are a bottom four club so the result was to be expected. Dragons at home is the next key match.

| In fairness to Miller and Finn, not a lot they could do when our pack was being so dominated. You need your pack to carry the piano so the half backs can play it. Their HBs had sooo much more time on the ball, hence the pinpoint kicks that kept us pegged back in our own 20 and dropping out.

| Our half backs is where the problem is. I actually think the forwards are holding their own but Finn/Miller is not working early doors. Finn is not a leader and Miller is trying to do too much and getting caught in position or just making the wrong decisions.
Last tackle plays were basic today. How many times gale created that extra man was embarrassing and that was pure speed and good half play. Habsburg did the same to us last week too.
our halves have been none existent in both games so far and the game vs KR is vital. The speed at which gale and Roberts moved the ball made us look like an amateur team at times.
I thought Lynne needs credit today. Let in 2 try's sure but he was left exposed a number of times and was put under a lot of pressure especially second half.
One final note, why are we playing 3 props? One on the bench? England should not be doing 50 minutes from scratch. Its not working.
Id be tempted to throw hall in at 7 next week
Hope to god we come out and show up at HKR next week

| Luke dorn and gale cut us to ribbons, and as like the friendly 2 weeks ago they identified how poor our defence was on the wings,
Miller was absolute shocking, in fact he wasn't that good, cas identified Finn was past it, those 2 need splitting as a partnership,
England was our best player by a mile, crunching tackle on Andy lynch after playing nearly 50 mins, straight, and when he did go off the flood gates opened, you need 4 quality props scruton and Anderson need to step up as both just don't look bothered, playing England for 70 mins every week he's going to get injured, take him out of the pack, and we lose a proper grafter and God forbid it could get worse,
Cas will again be around 4-5 place, and what's been going on elsewhere a win at KR and it won't look too bad after round 3

I would put England as Capt, bring in Hall Tansey Malloy a few changes too at least try something different,,

| it looks like BS is trying to put in a system that our forwards just cant get their heads around. The props are running at 2nd or 3rd receiver? instead of getting the short ball and making quick yards and a quick PTB, but our passing is so slow that they are being hit as soon as the ball gets there. at the moment we are not getting on the front foot at all so the halfbacks are always going to struggle. Hopefully it clicks soon or we go back to a simpler gameplan until it does because its a shambles right now.

To get a win, you have to score points, and from what I saw last week and have heard about todays inept performance, then we will do well to get in double figures.

We've only been this bad for the last couple of seasons as we've concentrated on sorting our debts out, we've been fairly competitive before and will be again.

We scored first try in both games, and like last week we made horrible mistakes when the game was in the balance,
36 mins gone 12-6 then Walton has brain fart and we go and string of poor tackles passes and the game is gone,
I watched Warrington get spanked 46-6 last season at jungle, it's hard place to go, let's just wait till home games,
We won second half last week again Widnes , I have just seen they tried against Leeds, ,, brown was awesome , we need a creative player or we will keep falling short,

Two games in and we are doomed!
Someone has said, we won the first two last season, then what?
If you don't like what you see don't go.
You are Trin or not, through thick and thin.

| What did we expect some say sack Smith what then it’s the same players that no other super league club would have
Miller new contract on the back of a few decent games Finn the less said the better a panic signing (Gibson Hall Arundel Owen Lyne Tansey) would not have a super league player if you combined the 6.
Scruton plays the odd good game in 4 Anderson sorry I see nothing that young British props Yates Walker and Shulver don’t bring
Howarth is a 100% man but again not SL standard
Kirmond a huge disappointment not developed other last 3 years
Ashurst Molloy just not good enough
Sio/Tupou same old overseas players who add very little
England early promise
Annakin am I looking at something else why is he not a starter
Simon is a miss
Next game I would give Jowitt a run along with Morris Annakin Yates Walker Crowther and Walton if all fit get BJB on the wing
Last year we needed a clear out we got it and instead of going with youth and yes risking SL survival we committed suicide signing a bunch of cast offs that nobody wanted a bunch of players past their best or failed to make the grade at Huddersfield Cas Salford

You are bang on with just about all of that but I would just like to raise a couple of issues.
1. I went to watch 9 of our full time pros take on Dewsbury RESERVES !!! on Saturday and all those alternative guys played.
They offered nothing more than the players yesterday apart from Hall and Simon. So other than those two,I believe bringing the rest in is not the answer.
2. I totally agree about the stupid signings and the players that need ditching but my question is this, Who at the club is going to make the astute replacement signings that we need. The same people that will be doing this are the same people that dropped the huge boo boo by signing those crap players in the first place. Would you trust the person who thought Liam Finn was the answer to continue to recruit your players ?

| Ok, let me start by saying once again, we are two games in. No one can say for sure how things will turn out yet, whether positive or negative. It's all just opinion based on a brief view.
Saying that, my view is:
Positives
England - He brings a lot of go forward and aggression
Howarth - 100% effort and quite clever with the ball in hand
Lyne - Showing good speed with more confidence than previous years. Better defence too.
Arona - Good go forward and leg drive in the tackle.
Fitness: Seems 100% better than previous years - in both games we were still trying at the end of the game. We weren't just giving up.
Enthusiasm: Gang tackles in to touch and back slapping against Widnes showed a lot of pride and enthusiasm
Potential but questionable
A Tupou - Nice touch against Widnes showed his skill but we really haven't seen our top player yet. Needs time to find his feet (and warm weather I reckon)
B Tupou - Isn't quite running with the same force as last year yet. not looking bad but has more to show. Question over centre or wing being his position.
Ashurst - Running good lines in my opinion and working hard but not getting the great pass he deserves.
Gibson - I liked him in preseason but he hasn't quite done it yet.
Walton - I think he'll be great in the long run, prefer to see him in the centre rather than second row. Making some mistakes we could do without.
Molloy - hasn't hada lot of chance but has more of a running game than he has shown. Needs to be pushing Kirmond out of his position.
Negative
Miller - Not seeing his running and side stepping yet. Maybe he needs hard ground but he has skills we desperately need.
Finn - His kicking game was the one thing we bought him for. Against Leeds it was great, seems to have drifted away. Get it back fast as he hasn't got the speed to do the running game. He has had some awful passes though which cost him time on the ball. Hall will have to step up if he doesn't get better soon.
Kirmond - Needs to be better and I am doubting that he has it at all now. I would drop him for next game.
BJB - Isn't hitting the line like he should. He is a major strike for us but just isn't getting or searching for the ball in the right areas.
Johnstone - He has more to offer in attack than most but a few mistakes are hurting us and him. Needs to work hard on game concentration
Errors in play - tackle discipline and dropped ball hurt us badly. It's a skill in itself and clearly Smith is trying to change how we play with holding down longer and running wider but the players have to pick this up quicker or we'll just pin ourselves back every 6 like we have in the first two games. We are beating ourselves.
Forwards
Scruton/Anderson and the other props if they replace them need to up their game. Whenever we did anything good at the end of last season it was when the front row was dominant.
Simon and Moore injuries are hurting us a little in the pack too but doesn't give the rest an excuse.
I think we have gone to a running back row game too quickly. Until the half backs can sort out their passing game, we need 5 props in the 17. 2 + 2 props and 13 driving hard and making ground. I'm happy with Arona being 13, certainly until Simon comes back, but we need two props on the bench, even if England does long minutes.
I still think we have wins in us. It will take time but there is a lot of potential in this team. It doesn't really matter when as long as we get there sometime in the first half of the season but the fans will clearly want to see this soon. We've had a lot of disappointment and the crowd won't be patient for long.

You're right, I mean when you think of all those quality players were queuing right across superbowl car park to join the club on less than what our rivals can afford. Makes you wonder why we signed Finn who was a key part of Cas getting within 1 game of LLS in 2014.
There is barely enough talent to sustain 12 top flight clubs in the UK, we are at the bottom of the pecking order in terms of attractiveness and financially in SL. We have to be realistic and realise that if we cant get the team to be more than the sum of it's parts, we are gonna struggle. We have had wholesale changes again and the team will need to bed in, it's not ideal but thats the way it is.

| If we are relegated, it will be because we weren't good enough *over the season* to avoid it; we are currently 2 games in and as far as I'm aware, no clubs fate is decided yet. If so, I look forward to seeing Leeds take on Fev and Batley next year, while Widnes win the treble.

So a side having played a few preseason games together should be as effective as where the majority of players have played together for 2 - 3 years?
