| Danny Kirmond, followed by Dean Collis.
Danny deserves a go with England, he offers just as much (if not more) as Farrell but unfortunately is at the 'wrong club'

| Collis for me. He's been a consistent presence this year. Kirmond hasn't been available for a chunk of the year so Collis shades it for me.

| Kirkmond for me, seems to put in a captains knock just about every time he takes the field - although you can see why many would opt for Smith or Collis, but I think for the sheer effort, determination and consistency Kirkmond has to be the call.
Honorable mention for Sykes who, relatively speaking, gives us very very good value for money (I Assume) and gives Smith the freedom to play his natural game.
Poore seems to be settling down now after a somewhat shaky run (that coincided with the teams slump) but I do think he is still a fair way behind the likes of Kirkmond and Amor in the rankings.

| Going to go for Amor.
Collis was a good player when he got here and has delivered fully on that promise and deserves great praise.
Danny Kirmond is typical of the mongrel spirit we need and is a great player to boot - and deserves a crack at England selection - again well done.
However for me it's Amor who is still a youngish player in the toughest position who continues to improve game on game and has maintained good form since he arrived - he's not there yet but he's not to far off either and will be on other clubs radar - that is no mean task at any club let alone Trinity
Also it's shut the Southstander experts up who said he wasn't Leeds quality - he'd walk in now that's a fact (await demented ramblings from the Leeds brains trust)

Spot on IMO, with Kirmo shading it.

I can believe it, he plays for Wakey! Wait til one of the so called 'big clubs' come and get him, then he'll be straight in the England team

| Great captains knock from Kirmond, a true leader and consistent in every aspect of his game. Collis a close second and Amor third. Honourable mention for Cockayne after his early season displays, and Foxy has improved as the season has gone on. The rest decent in patches, though we've had a fair number of injuries so hard to assess one or two.

| Don't really think there has been a total standout player like others seem to think.
Early season it would have been Cockayne but for consistency to date I would go for 3 from Aiton, Kirmond and Amor. Collis would also be in there but I still don't think we get the ball to him enough and Mathers/Poore have been decent enough in most games.
Really hard to pick out a player who has been head & shoulders above everyone else imo.

Collis does get alot of ball, he is the most involved player with trys both scoring and assisting. Alot of our attack goes down that side and you can tell by Kirmond, Collis & Fox's try record this year.

Agree with that. Cockayne was very good at the start of the season but dropped off somewhat.

| I agree with it being in contention between Kirmond and Collis.
When I saw the thread title I immediately thought of Collis and stick to that. Now that he has been injury free this year we've had chance to see his potential and he is a cracking centre. I hope we can extend his stay because I've been very impressed with his work ethic, impact and consistency.

| I'd call it a straight shoot out between Kirmond and Collis, with Kirmond edging it for his toughness, grit and the ability to put in a reet good Captain's knock.
No slight on Collis though - he's a genuinely class centre and it's a pleasure to watch him play.
I'd say Amor is the stand-out in the chasing bunch - he rarely has a poor game and is a real work-horse; tough as nails them Cumbrians.

| I have been informed (and please don't shoot me down for this) that Cockayne has had a rather averga eseason start to finish - except he was on the receiving end of some quality plays at the start of the year which meant he bagged up on tries.
Just throwing it out there like - my thought being you'd expect your wingers to score a few

The one that annoys me on this front is one that hasnt been picked, in Danny Brough. He is playing no better now than he did for 2 years with us IMO but Wakey fans at the time got laughed at for even suggesting it! Should have been the England 7 for the last 5/6 years.

Sounds like you've been informed by someone who doesn't understand the game very well!
Cockayne started the season really well - was up amongst the top try-scorers and was making metres for fun; I'm not sure what else people expect a winger to do - he puts himself in the right place to get good ball from his centre, then runs like billy-o until he sees the try line!
He has however had a drop in form - ironically, it started around the time he got the England call up.

his strength is his overall involvement/determination/enthusiasm, metre making and of course finishing tries. One of the downsides of the first part though is that his weakness is decision making when defending. His willingness to try and shut down a play can leave us exposed where he should be.
Tbh I think you have been ill informed, but the amount of tries conceded down his side is becoming too regular.
