I’m amazed any pro smokes these days, if true and I’m not doubting you that’s poor. I stopped smoking a few years back and I was only a social smoker and even I felt the benefit and I have a sit down job.

He's not the only one who smokes on a night out. If it's only a couple and not chain smoking everyday then it won't do any harm.

He's fit enough to do himself justice as 76 minutes against Wigan proved and 80 minutes against Cas last year..when his attitude is right he is a very capable player and a huge asset to the side.

I trust CC to have sorted it and I expect a big reaction on Friday...

It may just have been as simple as games have caught up with him over a very tough period we've been through where we've been unable to rotate the big men like we would have liked to...

On his season as a whole I'm prepared to give him the benefit of doubt and excuse the odd poor effort...

I think the "chat" with CC will mean we see a different PP for his next game.

I don’t agree in that I think it does especially smoking but all things are relative and I certainly agree in as much as it’s a relatively minor issue. I was just surprised that’s all as it tends to be a real no no these days.

Maybe part of the problem is his closeness to big Dave. Dave is a lifestyle maverick as we know but he has that magic where he can turn it on when needed. Maybe PP thinks he’s the same when he isn’t, I like PP but as yet he’s no big bopper.

There is no doubting Pauli’s ability to play big minutes and wreak havoc in defences as we have already witnessed this season ,but to me as an onlooker I think there is a lot more in him to come if he’s hungry enough for the game ,and can knuckle down.

I like Pauli he can reek havoc but he has to perform every time. We can't afford an overseas quota spot to only do 12 minutes, not sure if he's a luxury we can't afford to have.

To be fair on Pauli, I also was critical of his game but watching it back on Trinity tv in his defence the players around him were suffering from fatigue from doing big minutes in defence so highlighted his tackling.

You get what you get with Pauli. Devastating attack when he given the ball in the right place but defensively he’s not the best.

You can tell CC is pulling his hair out with him at times. Well he’s not exactly secretive about it!

I do like Pauli, but like people say, defensively he isnt the best and Ive said it before, theres no hiding place on a rugby pitch if your weak in that area. Opposing teams will target you.

Not sure whether its an attitude thing or not. To play in the second row, you need to have a good engine, and 12 minutes isnt good enough to me, and would expect more from an overseas player.

I think hes carrying too much timber and looks bigger than he did last year. Not sure of his weight at the minute, but think if he shed a few kgs, we'd see a big difference in com.

Hopefully Chessie can get through to him, but with him coming off contract hes not doing himself any favours

I dont think they would on here, but when it comes to Paulis defence, he could learn a lot from some of his team mates around him.

Look at the defensive stints Tinny, Matty and Jordy have put in, the Big Bopper even.

I mentioned about shedfing a few kg in a previous post. That and the above paragraph comes down to actitude. I am currently having a pre summer health kick, and have now shed 8kg in 2 months. If a 40 something office worker can do that, surely a 23-24 year old full time pro rugby league player is capable, but has he got the attitude to do so.

A few weeks ago Chezzie commented on Pauli's 6 weeks at end of last season off he had gained something like 2 stone.

For a professional athlete, Pauli Pauli is a disgrace, he makes Jarrod Hickey look lean!

Some players who carry that build play outstanding and contribute for much larger periods of games, BMM at Wire springs to mind as one, so it is totally down to attitude.

What I said about tackling practice with PP was a bit tongue in cheek, as much as like PP hes a great guy and always has time for us fans, I get what your saying re losing weight.
I too have lost 8kgs - albeit from January, but as you said if you can do it and I can do it a week away from being 53, then it cant be that difficult! (Even if its nearly killed me!)

You could say the same about Fifita! Being lean isn't everything, being fit is. Somehow Dave carries far to much weight yet he seems to be fit as a fiddle and can last most games. PP actually looks leaner to me than Dave yet clearly struggles. There has to be a natural athleticism as well as a good work ethic and it would seem PP doesn't have either, you can get by with one or the other but you can't be missing both. Solomona was the same as Dave, never looked the part but went like a train.

Agree with much that you say but to call him a disgrace is very harsh and to compare him to Hickey is grossely unfair, we've had good games from PP and some match winning tries, we never got anything at all from that useless lump.

Think thats harsh - he has contributed far more than you've given him (no) credit for.
As for Hickey, I could put in a better stint.

Tbf most are just seeing what CC seems to be seeing. It only a few who seem to be out to gett PP. He clearly needs to step up a gear if he's to match his obvious promise but to compare him to Hickey I agree, extremely harsh.

I like nothing more than seeing Pauli run over a defender and leave him on his back. But Friday night was no near what is acceptable at this level. Let's hope it's a one off.

As for PP nputting two stone on through the off season for me is too much.

Somebody said to me a couple of weeks back, he is now over 20stone.

Would be interesting to compare Pauli and Fifita height and weight wise, with an accurate source, unlike Wiki. I think Fifita was carrying too much back in 2016, but I think he has become leaner than he was then.

I think a lot was said in 2018 about Pauli and how he would be even better with a good pre season behind him. I as well as others would have thought he would come back this year, if anything leaner.

Im not bagging him as he is a good player and very capable, but I think a leaner version would be much more effective, but for me thats down to the individuals attitude and not coaching staff.

The first part of the post was tongue in cheek, I thought that would be obvious with the link to Hickey tbf? Had I compared him with Grond (Laeano) or Tautai then I’d expect the reaction. Perhaps next time I shall use an emoji- it has been a long time since I’ve posted on this forum so I forgot how tetchy people become if not 100% clear.

The second part of my post I will stand by- Pauli has a poor and in my opinion lazy attitude, which is not just reflected in his weight and athleticism but his application on the pitch- In my opinion I think we can get more bang for our buck elsewhere.

As for part 2, that is your opinion, which is fair enough. But you seem to have forgotten the good things (as others have also pointed out) he has done and concentrated on the bad one that has been brought up. I would like to think that we will see a better PP - remember he also missed the beginning of the season due to injury.
Also as has been mentioned Big Dave wasnt "bang on" for a while - and comparing him to Big Dave isnt quite right - hes taller and bigger than him.
