| Free, cheap, mini deals, food outlets etc are all well and good but the bottom line is very few people are aware of Trinity in and around this city of ours. Unless you look on the back pages of the WE, that's assuming you even buy the WE, or have Sky sports then other than the memory banks of the old uns Trinity may as well not exist. Can anyone tell me how are they, the general population or even lapsed supporters, supposed to know when we play, who we play, who our "stars" are ? My wife works in the Ridings and she is astonished that there is no visible promotion of either rugby league or Wakefield Trinity. For instance, on match days or leading up to the games there isn't even a poster in the Trinity shop window, or so she informed me. And yes, many lapsed supporters have lost interest due to this factor and the ground situation where no news just gives the impression no one cares. I say impression because I know people involved with the club do care. But it's an impression nevertheless.
I know MC said there was no funds to market the club, but that was in the early days when he was trying to put the club on an even keel. But now I believe the club needs to be marketed as does the whole game, hence the Hearn input.
Talking of e mails. Anyone remember when the club used to post fans a match day poster in order for us to print out and display ? A good idea and didn't cost the club a penny.
Anyone who watches "Backchat" will have heard the veiled criticism from one of the panelists, of our match day experience compared to Castlefords. Embarrassing actually.

We could sign Billy Slater but if the wider public are unaware of the fact it wouldn't matter a hoot regarding increased attendance, not past 5000 anyway.

| Regarding awareness of the club.
“Welcome to Wakefield - the home of Wakefield Trinty RLFC”
Could sponsors be found to fund signs like this on the main roads in to the city, the bus station and Westgate/Kirkgate stations?

| That's a good idea Kev but we need the "Star" players to highten the clubs profile. But were just not willing to go that extra mile & I think were kind of boasting now ( If that's the right word) everytime were on television or Facebook about not having any funds to do it or should I say not wanting to spend the cap. That's not going to excite the wakefield public. Who wants to hear that. That's not going to bring anybody in

| Couple of points.
Firstly reduced prices and freebies don't work. We found that out with Glover and if that is not enough for you, remember that was also the start of the demise of Bradford. Still not convinced, then look at Huddersfield they have massive give away deals and their gates are worse than ours.
Secondly regarding City awareness, again I don't agree. Yet again I called into a local boozer after the game and it was reasonably full.
We had our Wakey colours on and just about everyone in the pub were interested how WE had gone on.

So David Fifita isn't that 'star' player?
Could sign a 'star' player with a history of drug taking, who only uses the club to see off his suspension, so he can return to the NRL?

Was just thinking the same thing before you posted. With Big Dave, Pauli Pauli, Tom & Bill Tupou to name but a few signed up for 2109 our season could be written in the 'stars'.

But did they know there was a game on before you walked in. I would suggest it was quite a small sample of the wakey public, small pub too if you managed to get feedback from just about "everyone".
No, the club / game needs to do more.

I think it's more a case of can't, rather than don't want to. I'm sure MC would love to be able to spend up to cap.

The point is there were two of us and at least a dozen people in that pub knew there was a game on and wanted to know hoe WE played.
I am sure the same could be repeated all over and around the City. Lets just say if two of those attended from that pub and the same was repeated all over then your 4000 gate becomes 8000.
One other thing, don't forget Leeds UTd are doing well this season and they had a big game on Sky last night, that always has has a knock on effect to our games.

Poor excuse if so, you can buy online or pay on the day, the ticket office/portacabin rarely has a queue outside it.
Ultimately the club need to market themselves and the players heavily but that cost money, money the club doesn't have and Michael Carter does not seem the type to speculate to accumulate.

Yes it would, often thought a mural on all the railway bridges as people travel into the city would look great.
The really out there idea I've had if money were no object would be to 'wrap' the large tower blocks in the centre of Wakefield with images of the more high profile players for the city to see from far and wide.

Has anyone else noticed there are none ? Yet there are to Castleford's ground.

| The most obvious way to increase Belle Vue attendances is to produce a consistent "winning team". Sounds obvious I know, but by that I mean a team that we can expect to go out each week and win a game. The inconsistency of Trinity's performances does not attract the floating spectator. The Wigans, Leeds(until this season), St Helens, Castleford and Warrington fans know that when they go to watch a match they've a good idea that their team will win. Trinity fans have had a negativity factor instilled into their brains since 1979, and crowds won't improve until the results are consistently good.

| While success does bring fans...it's not the only route and in reality we're never going to be a Wigan/St Helens etc so we need to find another way to attract fans.
I think we should look at football clubs like Dulwich Hamlet and Palmers FC. They've both created cult like followings by becoming the cool thing to do...appealing to the hipsters.
I think there's huge potential for us to tap into the trendy craft beer and beard scene the north is starting to see. We need to be different, how often does Johnny Vegas talk about St Helens on TV? Could we work with The Cribs...maybe just a gig at the stadium or partner with them etc.
Also, new GDPR regulations will make it harder to create an all encompassing mailing list, not impossible though.
Interesting to see Connor Grace got clubman of the year for his media duties...obviously within the club there's the view we're doing some good stuff.

We would struggle to be a Wigan,Leeds, Hull as they are the only genuine big clubs in RL. St Helens/Warrington in my opinion we could be, what size clubs would they be if they had the last 50 years we’ve had. We’ve more potential than most RL clubs we’re doing ok get stadium sorted some advertising keep it going on the pitch and we’ll be fine.

| Look at the points for and against this season.
Not many teams have a better points for, it's the points against that needs a bit of work as then maybe we can compete with Wigan and Saints and even Cas!

| Only a small thing that I have noticed is they stopped putting those big A boards on the main roads into the city where you couldn’t help but notice trinity and who and when they were playing as more often not you were stuck in slow moving traffic .
Think a multi point attack on getting more into the public eye is the way forward in the short term.

| Loads of great ideas - but the problem with a scattergun approach to marketing is that if sales do go up, you don't know what's worked and what hasn't, so you don't know what to continue, and what to sack off.
For mine, I'd pick two and execute them in the off-season; the main one would be schools, with a second line of attack in the public sector. For schools, I'd significantly ramp up the player involvement and link them with PE departments - doing conditioning, nutrition and coaching - not just RL - and at the same time, get to parents through school comms channels, offering free tickets for kids and teachers - requiring a paying parent to accompany. Players like Big Dave and Pauli should be assigned to the biggest schools with the largest catchment areas - and players with connections to a particular school could go there. If the club engages as a partner around health, fitness and nutrition, there's a genuine reason for them to become partners of the club.
A similar project could be done with public sector organisations - especially the NHS - with a public health crisis in full flow mainly around lifestyle choices - and a gang of super fit, professional athletes able to offer genuine added value - it shouldn't be that hard to get the NHS Health Promotion team to link up with the club.
The lack of connectivity with the local community will never be solved with posters and A-boards - the club has way more to offer than that, and building relationships with large demographics has to be key?

I hope that never gets quoted out of context
However. some good suggestions there and agree about the A boards and posters, but we do need those as well. Also, getting news out daily to the media organizations, any old cobblers will do (half joking). Many a slow news day will see them slipping the odd article / quote in.
