It's a good deal for wire, despite them not really needing the money getting shut of one of there main trouble makers with one year left on his deal and gettin 100k ain't bad. I know mathers ain't the best but due to reardons probably sacking they get a full back who's reasonably injury free n I doubt he was on as much as reardon.

Not for certain - new tax year - change in rules of how players can be paid(image rights).Some players will now be looking at a lower net pay than before - they can either lump it or ask for an increase in their contract,so the space on the cap may already have been gobbled up.

It is an interesting signing and fills a void at Wigan that has needed filling for the last few years.

He is clearly not without his bagage but he looks in the best shape he has been in for some time and was one of the few players that could walk away from the World Cup without any shame.

Simply to get rid of Mathers is a great boost for Wigan.

I love to know how everyman and his dog are experts on how much Wigan players are paid and also how much cap space they have left.

The Chairman has been saying for some time now there is room to bring in a new signing, we have also released Mathers, if you loom at the ins and outs over the off season, the question you should realistically ask is why would you believe the we had no cap space left?

Chairmen of RL clubs do not always nor should they tell it as it is, to expect any different is naive and unrealistic.

Anderson joins Saints as coach and the first person he ships out is Gleeson. Smith joins Wolves as coach and the first person he ships out is Gleeson. There is a theme developing.

It's a great signing for Wigan especially when there got rid of Mathers, It's up to tony smith now to rebuild Mathers confidence & abilty
