What about that lad at Barrow? English - international in fact - can kick 40-20s for fun, and a local lad I believe.

But with players rumoured to be leaving etc we may have room for another little un. Not too many massive stand offs around in the mould of Pryce, in general play our defence is pretty good so I think we could probably accommodate a weaker defender who can offer us some guile and craft in attack. We've played the whole year without a recognised stand off apart from when an under par Rooney was filling in so to be fair we're doing well to be where we are.

think we are talking to at least one out and out 6 but as with everything else they will have to juggle the finances when they find out whose going where. fingers crossed

Orr is a good call - I remember when he was Cas's talisman, plenty of experience.

Good call except hes very happy in London ... We are missing a stand off tho i doubt Rooney was the answer anyhow... We may look to the academy side next season in which a certain half back is playing rather well ...

Perhaps JK is looking at a 6 from down under, whether any of the better ones are available I don`t know, but watching a few NRL games there are a few pretty big 6s knocking around, and most of them are pretty good defenders.

Why not Cooke? He would offer something different, good player with a good kicking game.

i know for a fact Danny wants to move back up north but Jack Fulton won't have him or his family back at cas so we have no chance of re-signing him unfortunately!

why would you want to resign him, the academy at cas are playing well,
sentimental strings are been pulled there, he has peaked at 31 would only have a few years left anyway or are you looking for a quick fix

as you state young brierley is a top prospect but i'd say 18months away form SL IMO and i fear chase will be tempted back to the NRL and Faumuina isn;t a Stand off so i believe a quality 6 with not too many years in the engine to keep young brierley out of the side would be a great shout.

if we can keep our two academy sides from being tempt away to other clubs it will put two fingers up to the RFL about clubs being too close to each other, I'm taking more pride with the club that they are putting the foundations of a bright future here

i know the club are hoping for a crowd of 2500 for the upcoming academy game with 1000 there against bulls on thurs - the local table toppin game will attract some good numbers fingers crossed. even though its a thursday night i'm sure you guys will fetch a 100 or so

Problem is most teams need a good stand off so Cooke, Orr or even Ratchford would be picked up elsewhere before we get them.

I think the Aussie option is more likely as it is possible to get an unknown who is as good as these guys.....sad to say but it's true.

Alternatively we could promote from within.

I'm all for that, and would generally prefer promoting from within instead of going down under, but if we want to have a dominant presence for next season, at hooker or half back, we aren't going to find them in in the academy (just yet).

If we signed say a Trent Barrett, we would improve across the board instantly. If get a good young lad, we might do ok, but someone else will probably end up being the dominant presence......and will probably come from down under...so it's a difficult cycle to break.

Signing Danny Orr, or Paul Cooke etc would solve the problem and I'd vote for that route first, but all I'm saying is that other clubs want them too and I'm doubting would be top of the list.

I'd love to see 6 Orr, 7 Brough 9 Newton (love is a strong word for this one) 13 Wild in Wakefield shirts but kind of unlikely

Well if the rumours are true and we lose Brough, Drew and Martin then we really will need a quality half, otherwise we are going to be lacking any kind of creativity at all. (Latu excepted but, a bit erratic to be relied on 100%.
