Massive injustice and over-reaction from the RFL. There was a wrong, but this is not appropriate.

Just what action would the R F L recommend to have prevented the actions of of a very small section of fans acting in this manner.
To congratulate the club on the actions it had taken after the event seems totally worthless.
THE QUESTION MUST BE HOW DO YOU PREVENT IT HAPPENING IN THE FIRST PLACE. AND WHAT ADVICE SHOULD TRINITY AND OTHER CLUBS TAKE TO STOP SUCH ACTIONS.

To be honest 20k with ten suspended you have got off pretty lightly. We (Cas) got 40k for homophobic chanting again like yourselves from a small group of idiots.

These fools don't think of the consequences before they open their mouths. Why don't they think about the damage they are doing to their clubs reputation and their finances

I hope the stewards have improved since the game. As they seemed more bothered in filming Bradford fans singing our usual songs. And ignoring the racist chanting even after it was reported to them.

New company and new stewards this year, Wakey got rid of the old shower.

That's good to know. First time I had witnessed any issues at Wakey. Was fine for MPG.

Well I made my feelings known at the time so I won't be going over old ground but I feel the punishment is fair. Personally I can't remember ever feeling so uncomfortable at a RL match as I did that day with my young family.

Completely against anyone's sense of natural justice, but it has to be like this I guess; quite how a club is meant to prevent this kind of thing I'm not sure, but it is important to respond appropriately when it does.

hope we appeal, I thought it was a case of Bradford starting offensive chanting against Wakefield then crying when they got a response from a few of our idiots

I'm not sure it's for non prevention but rather for not acting quickly enough to shut it down. The stewards in that area did not do their job and therefore the chanting went on too long and the culprits weren't identified so weren't ejected.

The idiots have cost the club £11,000 with £10,000 more if it happens again, what morons.

Correct me if im wrong but wasnt the stewards employed to stopnthis type of behaviour so surely it shiuld be them that pay the fine

If it was to happen at a challenge cup final where all fans stand together would the RFL be liable.

It's not just offensive, it's illegal (although the word "insulting" has been removed from Section 5 of the Public Order Act, it is still "abusive"icon_wink.gif.

The RFL are right to act, because otherwise there become no limits. Although rugby league has always struggled to recruit from many of the ethic minority communities, a source of pride has always been that there was little, if any, racism shown towards black players many decades before football got a grip of the situation. To put that in context, John Barnes was getting bananas thrown at him at a time when Great Britain had a black captain in Ellery Hanley.

But.......How many times do we here the South stand at Headingley singing about the referee being a w*nker? Isn't that classed as being abusive? I'm pretty sure if you constantly abused a police officer with the w*nker jibe you'd be arrested. It always comes over particularly clear on TV so should Leeds expect a fine? It's been going on for ages at Leeds, they obviously haven't taken precautions to stop it.
