| it's great to see a nomination for a Rugby League player on the SPOTY nominee list the only problem is that it's Kevin (ruddy) Sinfield. To listen to commentators on matches you would think that he's the only player in the game that can kick a ball and pass. Put him in the all star Leeds team and he looks O.K. but would he have got a mention if he had been playing behind last years Wildcats. The only way he would get a good vote from me is if he chinned Peter Box!

| Well I wil be voting for him, probably more than once.
The fact that he represents my sport and the fact that my sport is overlooked so often overrides any issues I have that he is not even the best player at Leeds this year!
He is deserving of a lifetime achievement award, but not SPOTY, but if he wins it I will have a drink on him and be grateful!

| I'm in total agreement with TRB, I'm not Sinfields biggest fan and god knows I can't stand Leeds Rhinos but quite frankly all of that will be put to one side as I support Rugby League and Kevin Sinfield is our sports Representitive on the night.
They could put Ryan Bailey or Gareth Hock up and I'd still back them and Rugby League because as TRB has said, we get so overlooked and marginalised by the media, BBC in particular

| You couldn't pick up a newspaper a few weeks ago without reading double page spreads stating that Sinfield, Peacock and Leulalai had retired. It was as if an RL player had never retired before. I agree with Stevie, would they have achieved similar stature in the game if they'd played with Widnes , Salford or Trinity?

Does it really matter? The game is what made them and the game is what we want to succeed. He's our man, like it or not. If we continue to be so selfish towards our club and ourselves the game will never ever grow!

| Really can't understand the negativity here. RL fans perpetually moan that the sport gets no recognition then when it does there's even more moaning because they don't like the player or the team he played for! I can't stand Leeds Rhinos and have always seen Sinfield as a good clubman as opposed to an electrifying talent but I'll happily pay my hard earned money to vote for him as he is representing RL for his achievements in 2015 and that's the bigger picture here. By all means cast your vote for 'Mr Personality' himself Andy Murray or worse still the eternal bellend that is Lewis Hamilton but make sure you savour the shame as you click send on either of those voting texts.

| Unlike many Wakey fans I do not dislike Leeds (I actually come from Leeds) think that Sinfield is a credit to the game. Phil is right, it should be a lifetime achievement award he is getting not SPOTY.
That being said I will be voting for him and hope he wins it for the game.

| What the hells going on . K'S a credit to the game and like it or not the Leeds teams achievements should be celebrated in a sport that gets very little national coverage. His attitude commitment and professional approach should be an example to all younger players.
We will never know if he could have produced the goods in a less fashionable club but honestly who cares. He's a product along with others in a club with a great culture and pride. .

If any of the three clubs you mentioned had the success of Leeds over the past decade or so then they might have. For a sport that's largely ignored by the wider general public it's a fantastic achievement just to be nominated. I'm hoping there is going to be plenty of sinister voting patterns emerging from the north of England over the course of the show.

| He's representing my sport , the one that gets frigg all media exposure I will be voting for him. If a miracle happens and he actually wins it , he will be the first to say this is for rugby league. For all his refeering faults over the years, you have to admire his will to win...

| He'll get my vote too and I wonder how many of the people watching who follow tennis and F1 for instance are actually aware of our great sport. What better platform to send out the message that we are here and look what we have.

| I'll vote for him because it'll be good for the sport's profile to see him featured. I won't be fuelling the ego of any Leeds supporters I know by admitting it though.

| Even though in my earlier post I may have seemed rather negative regards KS, I have to admit he has been a credit to our great game and deserves any accolades that may come his way. It's just the sycophantic way that the press and media drool over Leeds Rhinos, as though there is no other club in the game. Anything that puts forward RL in a positive way will do for me. So hope you get your SPOTY trophy Kevin.

| He's had a great career has Sinfield, and gone out with a fantastic treble, but there's more worthy people on the list this year in my opinion. Like someone else has said, the Lifetime Achievement award would be more fitting. Tyson Fury gets my vote.

| Tyson Fury shouldn't even be on the list in my view - he's hardly an ambassador or a role model, given his abhorrent views on women and sexuality.
A vote for Sinfield is in many ways a wasted vote, because he doesn't have a chance of winning it, but it will send a strong message if he gets a lot of support. And club bias aside, he's had a fantastic career and conducts himself like a model pro - any kids wanting to make a go of professional sport could do much worse than follow his example; he is perhaps a good illustration of the fact that hard work beats talent if talent doesn't work hard.
Ennis-Hill is my pick - her achievements are amazing and she's done wonders for women, not just in sport but in general - in a world awash with very negative female role models (Kardashians, reality tv tartlets, half-naked pop stars) she's a breath of fresh air.

| I'll vote for Kev. Great year for him.
I understand why people wouldn't vote for fury, but personally if KS wasn't in there I probably would do. Completely disagree with his views on women and homesexuality but we are entitled to free speech and this is a sporting competition after all.

It wouldn't be a wasted vote by the looks of it.
Murray - Evens
Ennis-Hill - 2/1
Sinfield - 6/1
Fury - 14/1
Hamilton - 33/1
Is roughly what the various bookies have it at the moment. Sinfield was around 33/1 shortly after the nominees were announced and he's odds have lowered all the time. Even Murray and Ennis-Hill's odds which started out really odds on strong favourites have gone backwards.

If that's part of the criteria for winning then Sinfield can cite two of the biggest in Ablett & McGuire.

He does have a personality......but it's a personality of a c**k.
Think people get too worked up with the word "personality" in the award. It was a name given to the title over 50 years ago and they've stuck with it. Really it could easily be "Person" but they aren't going to alter the name of it nowadays are they.
