| A good positive letter, ruined a little by the last paragraph.
I would like to know what the future of the club is should we drop out of the top flight. A fair number of the points in that letter are heavily caveated with the top flight status of the club.

| I fully respect everything Carter has done behind the scenes over the last 2 years and there are many positive messages here.
For the fans 2 things are primary:- the club's survival and being at the top flight. At no point do I feel assurance on these factors by that open letter. Point 8 highlights the benefit of us staying up which is great. At the moment many of us don't believe we can stay up because the rot has set into the team and coaching staff mentality.
Full credit for what you've done Mr Carter. I am fo ever grateful for it.
At the moment I struggle to see us in SL next year and I think this should be addressed so fans have faith enough to return through the turnstiles.

| That is a very good letter and it's good to know that there is some positivity. I don't blame the guy for putting so much emphasis on the top flight. The problem is that the risk of losing the top flight and disenchantment from fans isn't anything to do with sponsorship or pies or even the squad. It's the nature of the performances. If the team showed an ounce of the optimism displayed in that letter, the fans would still be turning up.
Perhaps this weekend gives the team the chance to draw a line and say start from now. It sounds like many good things are happening off the pitch. But the fans pay to see what's happening on it, and it ain't pretty.

Very good point that Khlav. If you beat us (Leigh) on Sunday,we'll continue to concentrate on promotion. However you could be facing a difficult tie in the next round when really you want to be concentrating on survival, like you pointed out about the letter referring to being top flight status. It's a funny one really.
FWIW I hope your club turns a corner for the better.

| Ever had the feeling of deja vu?
[urlhttp://retro.rlfans.com/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=572325[/url
Interesting quote on that thread from MC...
[i
Reason to carry on. I see an opportunity to reclaim some of the money I have put in over the last 3 years. Not all of it but some of it. I've had quite a lot of enjoyment at times that money couldn't buy. At the same time, it is my pension pot and my kids future that I've been spending. So I think a little of it back isn't to being too greedy. I've retired once. And I will retire again once my kids are thru school. I'm afraid the lure of Portugal, is just slightly more then trinity. Sorry if this sounds un-positive in any way. But I've not lied yet, and I dont intend to start now.[/i
So I guess he (and probably CB) are taking some money out of sorts, albeit actually their own! No problem with this whatsoever with that, as like any debt director loans should be paid back, but lets not pretend he has ever been in this purely out of the goodness of his heart because he hasn't. If the club had gone into admin then he would have just been a creditor too and his money would have gone hence why they stepped in and if the club doesn't hit its financial targets this season then i hazard a guess that it is his loans that won't get paid back as quickly, or if we go down, at all. I have no doubt that MC is doing right by the club financially and doing things for the right reasons but i've never met an accountant yet that doesn't start to get twitchy at the first sign that a shortfall might have an affect and i think that is what we are seeing here. I'm sensing a worried man.

Let's not forget that MC put his house on the line as a guarantee to the bank to protect the club. I think he is more than entitled to get back what he put in. He's committed far more and risked a lot more than probably any of us reading this ever have for the red, white and blue.

He had to do it or the rest of his 'invested' money was gone. He was never going to lose his house as long as the club didn't go bust through the course of last season, which given the (much needed) cloth cutting wasn't an issue. He said himself that the Sky money was always going to cover those repayments to the end of last year when it was done with, so whilst it was a risk of sorts but he never in any real danger of it going wrong. I apprieciate what he has done as without him the club would have died there and then but if it wasn't for trying to claw his brass back then i doubt either he or Chris would have bothered, and neither would i have blamed them.
But now he needs to take the next step up and promote the club. Statements like todays are all well and good but will have minimal effect as the only people who will take notice are the ones who look for it anyway. First he is going to have first make some tough decisions to get the playing side sorted then spend some money marketing the club to increase the fanbase. If he isn't willing to do that than all the churchillian speaches in the world won't help as the club will be in the championship next season.

| Credit where it's due here.
Something did need to come from the club and that's a good effort in explaining some of the issues that are on going.
Obviously no comment on Webster (positive or negative) and a reverse against Leigh will still lead to calls for him to go.
MC and Co deserve massive credit for saving Trinity a couple of years back, a task that nobody else was willing to take on
and maybe the letter is a sign that the club are actually listening.
There are plenty of moaners about, none more so than on this forum but, some of the stuff is genuine and points are raised that need addressing.
I will certainly be there on Sunday and lets hope that we can progress in into the next round.
Finally, it has been very good to see the promotion of the cup game both on the website and the leaflets through the post.
Let's get down there in numbers and see if we can cheer the team to victory.
Come on Trin !

If he'd said that it would have been treated like the Webster comment as being defeatist. I'm sure he's preparing but there is only so much he can say.

| Fair play it would be churlish to criticise him for taking this step. But what worries me is it indicates we are only 225k below cap if I'm reading it right. Jesus Christ how are we so turd then?

| A good 30% of that cap has most likely spent the season on the sidelines. I think this is the best team we have had in some time and the issue is more with organisation, preparation and to a degree injuries.
With 100% fit squad I genuinly believe we are a match for anyone. The other down side is that of smith and kirmond who have been instrumental for us previous seasons seem to be really struggling to find even a shred of form this year.

| "We know we have made mistakes along the way, hindsight is a wonderful thing, but every decision taken has been done so with the best interests of Wakefield Trinity at heart"
It's this one sentence that sums up what is both right and wrong about MC's administration IMHO.
I believe he is trying to do the right thing, however the reason he has made some mistakes (not all) is because he hasn't listened to genuine fans advice - especially that offered by some highly knowledgeable ones. It's not just MC I accept - it's symptomatic of modern age British management where they will listen intently to almost anyone rather than the guys at the coal face.
Dedicated supporters have slowly drifted away in the Glover/Carter years to a point where Squadbuilder and Wisca no longer appear to operate at anything like the level they did some years back. I may be wrong and all is tickety boo but I see very little evidence of fan participation at any level. Where is the fanzine, I'll tell you - no one is interested because there is no longer a feeling that it can help. As a matter of note the 6 editions of 4foxsake that ran from 2005 to 2008 raised about 3k. Not a lot but from a club that claims to be skint due to lack of fans support you'd think they would be pushing it - I suspect they would find some H&S rule to stop us selling it now.
Squadbuilder in particular was a real success especially the dinners - even if it wasn't as good as some other clubs it helped a lot - now I doubt it scratches the surface - Belly or Feline tell me if I'm wrong.
I myself have probably through the years given the club thousands of pounds of free design work - I know the Dixon family firm printed the Fanzine for free!
I can't talk for them but I'm still willing to help however there no longer appears to be a gateway - snowie will say come forward and offer - fine but one, I get the feeling it would be more like an interview than a grateful acceptance of help and two should we really have to - who we are is not a secret.
Finally and I know Bigal will hate me making him a cause celeb but regardless of the rights and wrongs on both sides I have to ask why a simple apology was not offered. I can't believe in a modern Britain where the customer is always right and apologies are always offered even if not heart felt MC felt the need to dig his heals in and buck the trend. Come on MC brace yourself and smell the coffee. RL is a product driven business these days and when the product is as poor as the one you're selling (on virtually every level) you should be bending over backwards to keep fans like Al. I'd go as far as saying he'd have to of put my cat in a liquidiser and turned it on before I'd of retracted an apology if I were CEO. That's the reality MC, that's how low WTRLFC is in the pecking order and that includes you as it's CEO. That is not a personal attack on you but it is the reality of the position you hold - I only wish it were otherwise. Every vote and every penny helps and not just the shed load I am happy to believe you've shoved in - if you can't see that well...
At the end of the day it's not all about you and it certainly isn't all about me - it's all about teamwork and the fans are part of the team and you need to get them back on board - not as naughty school kids to be tolerated but as what most of them really are - PARTNERS.

| Hi.
I read this letter with interest and I just wanted to share my thoughts on it.
As a journalist, I can spot a "puff piece" a mile away. I had to try and balance my professional training with my love of a club that I have been watching home and away for over thirty five years. Something did need to come from the club however, it is purely my opinion that this letter was not it.
Many of the points raised seem fine on the surface. You only have to just scratch the surface though to realise that the "positives" mentioned may be little or no use to us in the long run.
Our academy has been graded as good. Well, that's fantastic news. It will be great comfort to the clubs who sign those promising young talents after we have gone out of business.
We should be able to spend only £50,000 short of the full salary cap next year. That of course all depends on our survival this year, which as time goes by looks ever more in jeapody. Also due to the club's lack of awareness and acumen, even if we do survive, we will have two more years of an expensive squad that our hopelessly inept coaching and conditioning team have no clue what to do with. If we do survive, may I suggest using some of the increased Sky money to sent Mr Webster on his way. There is no mention of how the club are going to turn around our fortunes on the field. I'm afraid for me personally, the injury crisis excuse is wearing a little thin.
Anybody who thinks the new Conservative MP will be more likely to be on board than the old Labour MP knows nothing about politics or politicians in general. She will make all the appropriate noises until we start chasing two million pounds from a debt ridden council that is struggling to provide the most basic services to its residents. Then the classic politician's rhetoric will kick in and we will come to a very sudden, grinding halt.
We need action now! Not a letter basically saying that if we somehow manage to stay up by the skin of our teeth, the future looks awesome. If I win the lottery, my future looks awesome. I don't like those odds though.
Finally on a personal note. This is my first post on this forum but I am by no means a troll. I have read these forums for years but until now, I have never felt the need to comment. I am also not a fool. My comments, I realise, will have no bearing on the future of the club. It is the only outlet I have though for venting my considerable frustrations.
Please Mr Carter, we need action now. Please don't let my club die.
Thank you.

Thank you.'"

Nah, Sadler stopped giving a toss about Trinity 20 years ago - I can't see him put that much effort into a post TBH.
