| Should the Wakefield be promoting Nobles comments "I think England can go all the way".
Obviously he is a former Great Britain coach but, i'd rather be reading about one of our current or ex players comments, rather than those of Salford's coach.

| I have a good friend who is very involved with a lower league club and the word from the RFL appears to be that they are getting worried about the lack of interest in the World Cup. I suspect the clubs have been told to do what they can to promote it.
My view is that it will pick up nearer the time. Why buy my Final ticket now? I've got Wembley and the Grand Final to sort out first.

Sorry can't support that comment. It's England and they've already got my support and I've bought the tickets. Regardless of Chase.

It's not just Chase, it's the coach as well. He's recently said he would pick the same squad for the next two world cups, by which time the majority will be well into there 30s. I seriously hope this fool never gets another SL job

| So will those who won't watch England because of Chase be going to any other games or just making excuses not to go? Do they watch the England cricket team?

| I'll support England regardless of Chase, although he shouldn't be in the squad. Anyone who has done a haka against England in recent years, which he has playing for the New Zealand Maories, shouldn't be selected.
For me, the interesting games are the group games. Fiji-v-Ireland looks interesting, as does Samoa-v-Cook Islands (or is it Tonga?). I don't buy into England in the same way I do with Great Britain, but I'll still support them. And I'll go to the final, as when else can you watch Australia-v-New Zealand on home soil?

Good point. Bit fed up of this 1970s Anglo Saxon rubbish attitude, lets get back into the real world of sport. Allan Lamb played for England in the 70s and 80s yet is South African. Look at the current England cricket and rugby union teams also full of players born out of the UK. All countries are at it as well.
Would we have been happy to have Brough play for England then instead of Scotland? Despite playing for Scotland in last World Cup.
I don't agree with the selection policy myself but to not go and support England in the World Cup on home soil? It's a little extreme I think.
Hope England get to the final (should have the best pack with Burgess brothers, Ellis, Graham, Roby etc) wonder if that will change some people's attitude, would they go see it then?

| I have to agree with most of the comments regarding Chase but the more obvious reason he shouldn't be first choice SH is because he isn't the best. In my opinion Danny Brough should have been the England SH on form shown, not just this season but over the last 2-3 years.

If you ain't got a World Cup Final ticket already then you genuinely better get it sorted ASAP. There are only £50+ tickets left!

| Selecting a team player from another country is nothing new bt I dont agree with Chase being selected when over 80 mins and the whole season Brough is the better player. If you want an example of a player from another country playing then have a look at a man called Alf Chorley a relative of my grandad born England played full back for Halifax and Swinton and selected for New Zealand 1910.As I say not a new thing by any means but if your going to do it at least make sure they are the best available. Some of those group games will be crackers but one thing the RFL need to do is get the games advertised and plug it like no tomorrow so people take note and watch a game and hope they see enough to take a game in live.It needs to be pushed to those potential new fans who have not taken notice of the game before.

Seems like a trait only on this forum. Wonder if fans of other SL clubs feel this way ?

| Taken from an interview just before the first England V Exiles match in 2011
Quote "It's a proud moment for me to get picked alongside guys such as Danny Buderus and Steve Menzies. I'm playing alongside guys with a lot of test and State of Origin experience while Thomas Leuluai is a Kiwis regular.
Hopefully, I'll end up playing. This game could help me play for New Zealand. That's my goal to wear the black and white of my country.
It's a dream of mine since I was a little kid. If I play well [in Leeds I might get a crack."'"
Then 5 months later, because he doesn't get picked for the full Kiwi squad he switches to being "English".
So the only reason he is playing for England is because he couldn't prove himself good enough to fulfill his dream and play for New Zealand.
And FWIW I feel the same about Danny Brough playing for Scotland - He should have said "I'm going to stick to England and prove that I'm worthy of a place in the squad/team not just given up and gone off to play for Scotland as his 2nd choice.

| For me, the half-back pairing would be someone like Burrows and Widdop. I remember Chase's face during the haka and anthem against New Zealand in the last Four Nations. He looked nervous, as if he knew they were going to go after him, and they did. I would even prefer Sinfield at 6, who has the ability to grind away at teams, just working a team around the park. Chase relies on individual flashes that don't always happen, but when they do tend to be against the teams at the lower end of the league.

| I'm afraid we're our own worst enemy regarding international team selection problems. I remember not many years ago to play for Yorkshire CCC you had to be born within the county boundaries. None of this nonsense of born in Australia but has an English dad - so can play for Yorkshire. None of this he's a Aussie but has lived in Batley five years so he can now play for Yorkshire.
The only way to avoid such issues as the one with Chase is to make the rules clear. To play for England you have to be born in England.
Won't happen of course because nobody breaches that rule more than Australia!

Probably due to people wanting to see two good sides in Australia and New Zealand contest the final.
My Rugby interest stops at Wakefield Trinity. Went to watch the games a few years back when Rooney, Ferres and somebody else played in a tournament. Remember going across to the Willows when we had Toppo, Sheard and Mick Morgan in the England team v Wales. No Wakey players involved these days so no interest but schadenfreude comes into play and I hope England get stuffed (Tomkins reinforces this feeling).
Can easily enthusiastically support Cricket or Football national team but enjoy Union crew getting beat.

Went to headingley to watch how the Aussies went, right or wrong no Trin players no watch live only on Telly. The coach of England is to blame for the Chase thing, can't see the RFL having a say in it.
