althought it was disgraceful to boo tomkins while playing for England they paid their money, so why can't they have an opinion?

Depends where you draw the line because as far as I'm concerned paying £10 or how ever much it was on Friday night doesn't give you the right to behave in any way you see fit.

thats very true J.T, but there is a couple of reasons for the incident on friday. not everone was supporting england for one, the silence of the game in which 14,000 attended was akin to having an 75 minute silence only to be broke by people booing tompkins, which sounded worse then if everyone had been cheering for different reasons. ive never been to a game here or abroad where it was so quiet, when i got home and watched the reply, i swear the sound guys had dubbed the match to make it sound like it had more of an atmosphere. i for one was supporting the exiles, and a fair few others were to. so for some to boo if they were supporting exiles is that justified?

Although I was cheering on The Exiles from the comfort of my settee I never actually booed Tomkins

. I did have a chuckle when he got hit hard a few times especially the smash where you could see him consider faining unconciousness again. Tomkins deserves all the flack he gets. It's not just his recent cheating antics or declaring his wish to move to Union but goes right back to his debut season kicking out in tackles and also one particular late tackle to the side of Keiran Cunninghams knee joint.

I may be wrong here due to it being a few years ago but wasn't it Tomkins tackle around the knee area that caused Damien Blanch to miss most of the season when we played them at Belle Vue ????

He doesn't have to go down the cheating road he is a good player without that.

Whatever the RFL might have said, did anyone really care about the result? I didn't, and so didn't watch it. It captured some mild curiosity for me, like watching an exhibition match, but who really cares? It will cease as soon as a player gets a season-ending injury in one.

Put this game on record but still have not watched it, if i'm honest i can be bothered.

It's people's personal preference as to whether to boo or not I personally don't boo because I don't think it really serves any purpose. I just don't buy into the 'I've paid my money so I'll do what I like' defence. What makes it worse for me is the reaction if the player being abused/booed gives some back. I'll never get bored of watching that Palace fan screaming abuse at Cantona thinking he was safe and sound so as he pleased and the look on his face when Cantona comes over the hoardings is priceless! Don't get me wrong I've dished out a fair amount of abuse over the years but I've never gone crying to a steward/policeman when I've got some back. Imagine the outrage if Tomkins had stuck 2 fingers up to those who were booing him, which in my opinion he should have done.

i can say i didnt boo when tompkins grabbed the ball, i cheered when he got hammered over the line for the dissallowed try, it is a great joy to me that what seperates league from footy is that fans form all teams can stand side by side an have a laugh, unlike some footy fans who think they are at a boca juniors derby match. i think people will agree that hate is a very strong word and is used more often then what it should. those boos where light hearted banter and people who say its a blight should take a leaf out of ozzies terminolgy and go toughen up. its just a game

I agree but I also think the players should be able to give some back as well makes it all the more entertaining.

for sure, can remember shouting at burrows that his school tie had fallen out of his pocket and he turned round and smiled, and at the cas match at wheldon rd, rangi chase bending over after a glib comment form my father, it made the night. it could do with a bit of WWF style retorts to the crowd. imagine bailey giving it the ' easy, easy, easy'. i would wet myself at that situation.

It's quite simple - people hate Tomkins because he's a dirty little cheat, hence the booing.

the funniest bit for me in the north stand was the interclub laughter of the paramedic who looked like andy out of little britain, and somebody shouted out,'yeah i know'. personally i had a great time with the crowds banter, though there was some hull fans were getting a bit tasty, beer induced of course.

Tomkins is a cheating xxat and if he wants to go to the RA RA game, why not go now just like Smith from Leeds did.

IMHO this game was yet another attempt by sky/rfl to take our game to a wider audience, as they did by bringing in teams from wales and "that" london, and that didn't work either.

Where has Tomkins stated he wants to go to Union?

I do not think he has said any such thing especially when he recently signed a 5 year deal at Wigan.

He was asked a question by a journalist and said something along the lines of "who knows?".

Regards booing I think it is disgrace to boo any player from any club who are representing your International team. I have always been a big fan of this concept ie the Exiles but think it could have been marketed much better,would have liked more aggressive comments in the build up from both camps, but its a start.

Top three teams didn't win today. If Saints and Leeds lose, can't see concept surviving.

The scheduling needs looking at that is for sure, personally think its time to sack of Millennium Magic, that would open a week up for a break of Super League rounds and give it its own weekend as the sole fixture.

I have always been an Country over Club man as I genuinely think it is the only way our great game can realistically go from strength to strength rather than becoming a feeder sport for Union.

get a grip you miserable old sod, its a game in which most fans at the match and at home didnt honestly didnt know which to support, when do you here a foreign team get cheers for the whole team like what happened on friday. and when does ingnorance come into it!
