| Whenever I've been asked in the past which would be my favourite gig of all time, I have not been able to answer.
Having seen bands such as 'DC, Scorp's / Priest / Rush (4 times), even Van Halen with DLR, I just couldn't pick a favourite.
That changed last night - Friday 20th November 2010 - at the O2 Academy in Leeds - after witnessing the GOD that is LEMMY his current Motorhead line-up! Just Brilliant!
Why on earth have I not seen these before? I will certainly not miss them when they next do the rounds.
So the question is - what is your favourite gig of all time?

You've been to the O2 Academy.....Good man,it'll be the Cribs next!!
Best gigs.
Oasis at Wembley.
The Clash at The Rainbow Finsbury park.
The Jam at Sheffield uni ,then midnight train to London for our final v Widnes.
The Cribs at O2 academy Leeds.
The list could go on,the beauty of music unlike watching Wakey is that it's very rare that you come away dissapointed!

Looking at the bands listed you may be interested that The Damned were last nights support! Seems a strange mix to me - Girlschool / The Damned / Motorhead?
Seen the Damned before at Leeds Uni (without the Captain), but they didn't 'float my boat' last night!

| Think it's called an "eclectic" lineup.
Loved the Damned, old school punk, strangely enough i've been listening to machine gun etiquette by the Damned on vinyl the last couple of days.
Think we could do this with a thread of it's own!

No - unfortunately. Nearest I got to a 'home' gig was the festival at Nostell with Marillion and Grand Slam - Phil Lynotts band after Thin Lizzy!
Saw the Stones in Roundhay Park.
I was lucky )?) to be based in Hammersmith for a year -1983/4 - and saw loads of bands like ZZ Top / Def Leppard / Quo there. Also been to Edinburgh Apollo / The Marquee club and Rock City on Nottingham.
As Jinj says - rarely disappointed and occassionally amazed!

Saw Jethro Tull there the first year the festival was held (you'll have been too young for that gig ).
My favourite gig of all time is probably Misty in Roots in Bradford (1980, give or take a year, Queens Hall or St George's Hall, no idea now, or even then... was high as a kite).
1979 Skidz gig in Sheffield runs Misty a close second. Anyone remember when they played the Unity Hall in Wakey? As did Ultravox (went to that one too) and The Human League (ended up interviewing the band for a fanzine before the gig - Phil Oakey drinks Carling Black Label, btw, or he did at the time).

That's a fair point. The "Chat Thread" was always a bit of a compromise, to be honest, and it can't please everyone. Who's to decide which O/T topic is good or not? The mods, obviously - but that'll only get people's backs up if their O/T thread is chucked in here as opposed to being granted "good" status.
There has been enough RL stuff to talk about this off season so far, but if the real news dries up, I'm sure we can find some workable compromise.
Anyway - which was your favourite gig of all time?

Not sure, but I think Big Country may have played the Unity Hall too. More of the chilly jocko sound, but without Richard Jobson they never cut it for me.
Saw The Kinks at Edinburgh Playhouse when I was a student there - not the best gig I've been to, but definitely the most professional.

Not seen any of them - and I like all of 'em!
Went to see REM at the McAlpine (as was then) and there were loads of folk walking around with Oasis T-shirts (never heard of them at that time). Turned out that they were booked for the support, but in the meantime their star had begun to rise and they pulled out. We got that band that used to be the Housemartins - and although I quite liked the HM I can't stand their new version - and they are no stadium band, I can tell you!

Can't remember Big Country coming to Unity Hall but did see Squeeze, Boomtown Rats, The Damned and The Rich Kids - the group formed by the original Sex Pistol bassist Glen Matlock. Always remember Matlock became very p****d off at the gig with everyone gobbing at him

The following are probably the best I've seen:
Stone Roses/Ian Brown (on the right day)
Primal Scream (ditto - pretty sure they performance was better the more caned they were)
Cribs
Jeru the Damaja
Death in Vegas
Morrissey

Fabulous band. I am in process of converting my old LP's to digital atm and I compare prices sometimes. A version of Luminous Basement will set you back around £110 these days!
