Just had word from TRB that something very much worth looking at has hit Wakefield MDC planning portal today... and it is great news...

Plans have been submitted for a 38,764 Sq m (approx 417,000 sq ft) high bay freezer & cold store unit on the Newmarket site.

This is the largest of the units that was proposed on the Outline planning approval.

The rumour is that site preparation and infrastructure works could start as early as September!!!

This look like it everyone, work looks like it is going to start soon and the fact the large unit is in for planning, although the end user is not names in the application, clearly Yorkcourt have someone signed up.

We hope to hear more soon and of course we will post it as soon as we know any more.

Some headlines from the submitted application -

£40m build cost.

Projected to create 154 full-time jobs, most of which will probably be local.

Projected to employ the equivalent of 39 full-time jobs during 16 month build.

£18million of the construction costs focused into the local area.

This application will see the new junction to Aberford Road and 75% of the new through road constructed as part of this proposal. It will open up the site for other developments and most importantly, the stadium build.

This is great news and is major step to getting Newmarket built sooner, rather than later... it really now is about 'when will the stadium get built' and not 'will it get built'.

Great news - this is a massive step forward.

I'm impressed by Andrew Glover's restraint - nary a mention on Twitter until TRB posted something!

Its a good step in the right direction but don't expect it to be built immediately on approval, it is likely to take a a short while before action happens, probably around the turn of year, weather permitting. All in the stadium is realistically likely to be ready for the start of the 2016 season.

From where we started, I'd take that.

I don't think that is what he's suggesting at all. Whatever anyone thinks of Glover and his team the truth is that without some people who don't necessarily get all the credit they deserve we would not be anywhere near where we are now as far as a ground is concerned.
A lot of individuals put a huge amount of time and effort into getting the stadium project started for no reward other than the benefit of the club and it's fans. I just don't think that is fully appreciated by some.

Its quite simple really.

Everyone on this forum knows what people like those in SWAG have contributed. Personally I think they deserve free admission to NM for life, bet IA would love that.

BUT, no AG no club, no club no need for SWAG.

They are all part of the same team.

That's what I'm saying, we are all on the same side - everyone knows the hard work that SWAG have been doing for the last decade or so. But without Glover, we probably wouldn't even be in SL and what use the new stadium then? Just feel that Glover deserves more respect than the cheap shots over who should announce news about the stadium, which should be the club anyway as it has a loudest "voice" of all "Team Trinity"members, SWAG included.

I kind of get it now, but I'm still not sure how that relates to my throwaway comment re Glover's restraint on Twitter; it could even be argued that his lack of Tweets allowed TRB, who really has put the graft in, to have some glory for once!
