| this to me was brought about by the question after the game by the sky commenter after the game, do you think you have played good enough for leon no wonder he feels like he does, you have my up most admiration to even get up and play the game never mind the what ordeals you have had to go through
Con please pass this on to you lad he should hold his head high, as should the rest of the squad

| In the last 6 months JD has been the public face of the players grief and has carried the burden with distiction. He has, and will never have, any reason to apologise to any wakefield fan for his behaviour commitment and attitude.
Quite shocked by this to be honest, not the apology, as that is the mark of the man, but the fact he feels he needs to.

| Obviously I cannot speak for Leon and his family, but I would imagine he would have been, and they were, VERY proud of what was achieved on behalf of Leon.
I have read that the silence was immacculately observed at the game by a big crowd and that players of both sides formed a guard of honour for Leon's family.
I can't imagine too many teams that have been through what the Wakey lads have been through this week would come away wiht the win against a team like St Helens.
It is a defining failing of humanity that we make mistakes when we are mourning a close friend or loved one. One might even say that the failure to win was an even greater tribute to the lad, that his team-mates missed him so much.
League is a hard game, played by hard men, but even they are human.

| Jason has nothing to appologise for. The guys are only human at the end of the day and no matter how ready the guys think they are to get on with the game the truth is that only time will tell. My opinion is that for the guys to even turn up and play in the first place deserves all the credit. And at the end of the day Wakefield scored the first try of the evening and all at Belle Vue knew and felt who that try was for !!!!! This game was never going to be easy or was going to be about winning , it was always about the RL family joining together to celebrate a wonderful life and i think thats was what happened. Well done to all the lads at Wakefield and JK you are all amazing everyone of you.

| So they didn't play as we, and they, would have wanted - so what?
Jason, you and the boys have NOTHING to aplogise for. You were big enough to take to the field in terrible circumstances - and that's enough for us.
We lost a game against a great side, we'll get over it and we'll move on. There will be plenty of opportunities to help put the smiles back on peoples faces, but yesterday was a little too much too soon.
Please don't feel bad about the performance - it matters not!

| Jd has nothing to apologize for.
The team played as well as any other team could under the circumstances.
"Do you think you did Leon proud tonight" was a ridiculous question form Bill because the team did Leon pround when they the game went ahead and the players put their shirts on their backs!!
I for one of many Wakefield fans, Is proud of John Kear, Jd, and the whole Wakefield squad!!

Agree when i watched the TV back this morning couldn't believe he asked that question. I was at the game last night and like many was deeply moved by the tribute/video/silence before the game, a memory that will leave with a lot of people forever. I am sure that the family fully appreciated the evening for the fitting tribute it was to a fine young man.
Bill Arthur should be ashamed of that question and should apologise, it is typical of the legend that is JD that he answered and fely the need to say sorry others may have suggested where Bill Arthur could stick his microphone.
I think in general Sky have done a good job this week, shame one idiot has spoiled it.

| Hope you don`t mind a comment from a Saints fan here-as you have all so rightly said,JD and his team have absolutely no need to apologise to anyone. The whole club and fans there did Leon and his family proud.
I would also like to say how well John Kear spoke after the game,I give him and yourselves my utmost respect.
I hope my team played their part in honouring Leon and his family.
Hold your heads high JD,John Kear and everyone concerned.
Best Wishes for the rest of the season.

| The Saints match was a truly extraordinary match (one which everyone hopes will never be repeated) in which the normal standards of rating performances in no way could be expected to be applied. Merely making it out onto the field of play was a highly commendable achievement.
JD, and all the team, you are the personification of all that is great in our sport and our club. Far from apologising perhaps it is us, the fans, who should question whether we are indeed worthy of you.

| No need to apologise JD.
If any one needs to apologise it’s the fans after last night, walking out very early and slating the performance, there was no need for it what so ever and the fact they did not wait till the final whistle to clap the players says enough for me

| The way the squad has played this season in honour of adam is quite amazing so far and this blow to a team of HUMAN beings is too much. To take the field and play rugby at all afterall that has happened this last six months is courageous beyond what should be expected of a rugby team. Nothing to apologise for JD, just give your kids a hug and keep on being the great leader you are.

| Don't feel the need to apologise JD. We were proud of you as our Captain and the rest of the team for the way you have all conducted yourselves this last week and for the last 5 months since Adams death.
I couldn't have even contemplated playing after the moving pre-match remembrance of Leon. The interview with Leon's parents struck a chord with all supporters. As a parent I could not envisage coping with what Leon's family have had to go through this week.
Hold your heads up JD and the rest of the boys. Also JK for the impeccable way they have all coped with such traumatic events.

| I have to say watching the game on Sky last night was a strange occasion. It was a fantastic display of courage from everybody within the game but mainly from Wakey. Everybody associated with the club should be proud of themselves and not apologetic in the slightest. It is times such as these where priorities are restored and human nature is shown at its very best.
WRT Sky and Bill Arthur; last night Sky gave a wonderful display all around. I genuinely believe that Bill Arthur didn't mean to ask that question and I gained a sense that he could tell as he said it that it was insensitive and wrong. I hope nobody goes over the top regarding it as IMO it wasn't deliberate. It was a poor choice of question and wording and nothing more. Even so, Demetriou answered it with great dignity and should be commended.
I was also very proud of the Saints boys last night. The lack of celebration and sense of professionalism was evident. Similarly, Leon Pryce spoke exceptionally well at the end of the game despite his own obvious problems right now.
To finish, be proud of yourselves and your club. Everybody at Wakefield has provided a great sense of respectability at the present time and one result in the toughest of moments for the players is not going to change that. The memory of Leon will be served throughout the remainder of the season and beyond and done well I believe.

Bob on. He made a mistake and, as you say, was probably kicking himself as he asked it....no need for complaints, I'm sure he feels bad enough as it is!

| I can only echo what Stirlingshire Saint has posted. Sums it up perfectly for me. The fact that the game took place at all was a celebration of rugby league under the most difficult circumstances you could imagine. Everyone involved in that game deserves to be commended.

| yes rebel totally agree, the hardest part as been achieved and now we can look forward to the leigh match which will be a tricky encounter within its own right.
Friday really did not matter it was the first step on the road to recovery and thankfully we played a superb outfit who played the game with enough dignity to actually put in a very professional performance.
NO ONE AT WTW NEEDS TO APOLOGIZE FOR ANYTHING
i as a fan have never been as proud to be not only a RL fan but a life long fan of Wakefield because I think even the cynical of spectators would be hard pressed to find fault within the way how we as a club have performed over the last 6 days and the last 6 months.
faultless IMHO

| I would also like to add that no apology is necessary.
Throughout this tragedy one thing has stood out for me, the way the club have handled the situation and the praise they've received, from the Walker family, the press and Tv and the wider Rugby League community.
Our club has been much maligned since we came into Super League some of it justified but much of it not. Our booad have come in for much stick from the supporters but in the way they've handled the tragedy of Leon's death is first class. They may or may not have shortcomings as Rugby League administrators but as human beings they are top drawer and I for one cannot praise the likes of Ted, Diane and the rest of them highly enough.
They say the mark of a great organisation is not how they cope when things are going well, but how they cope when things are going badly.
Wakefield Trinity is one great organisation.
