| Quote Back to square one then, both clubs backing their own plans'"
Not really, we've secured the land, have planning permission (not sure if it's just outline), architects have been appointed and we've already done the groundwork & other areas.
Cas have put a considerable amount of cash into this project and I'm sure they're determined to get the stadium built asap. The council don't seem to be bothered about both our situations so we'll just have to fight harder to secure the shortfall in funding privately.

| Pretty much as expected.
Once again it contains no concrete dates or finite statements about secured funding?
This part puzzles me:
Quote Castleford Tigers has concerns over the feasibility of the Newmarket site, particularly the likelihood of planning permission being granted in time for the stadium to be completed to schedule.
The club is therefore surprised to learn that the feasibility study, which would conduct a thorough and comprehensive assessment of both potential sites (Glasshoughton and Newmarket), will no longer be undertaken.'"
Why the need to comment on Newmarket?
Also:
Quote With planning consent already secure,'"
Outline Planning and you better get a move on or that too will expire!
Good luck Castleford!

| The first part is a bit churlish, but I welcome the statement. Glasshoughton was always a no-go for me, and good luck to them. Whether or not they get it off the ground is irrelevant for Wakey, as far as I'm concerned, but it would be great to see them survive in a decent stadium.
Now everyone knows where they stand, and as we have already identified a short-term solution as the Newmarket project progresses, hopefully we can both survive in the top flight.
The only concern I have is that the RFL won't let us stay in on promises, and so our side has to get going with Newmarket.

| That statement seems to say even less than the one Ted read out on Sunday.
I've always said the only time I will believe either or both of these stadiums is going to be built is when I see it with my own eyes.

'"
So it seems,
Looks like Peter Box intercepted a Rodney Walker pass but did'nt have the legs to go the full length before Ted caught him from behind.
Rodney's picked up the loose ball and headed the other way while Richard Wright, who tried to get up in support of Box, now finds himself hamstrung and limping along.

In the post-match interview, Richard Wright blames the referee.

| The one thing I don’t understand is, why the U-turn from WMDC?
At the beginning of last week they stated they would back one club, after the consultation process. The next minute the consultation is scrapped – why?
I loved the final paragraph though.
Quote Castleford Tigers remains committed to delivering a first class stadium for the local community that will satisfy the RFL criteria when the Super League Licences are reviewed in 2011, ensuring the long-term future prosperity of the world-class rugby league club. .'"

The consultation is scrapped because one party (trinity) decided not to go along with it therefore you cannot have a feasibility study when one of the partys is not interested.
As for dickie bigging up his club, why shouldnt he , they are a finacially stable club with assets , unlike our boom and bust (ill give ya a quid for our ground back) neighbours
Both sets of fans have got what they wanted and I look forward to us having some cracking derby days in the championship, because even if we both believe what our respective chairmen are telling us, I cant see the RFL buying either clubs spin
hope none of this offends cos ive had me wrist slapped

Because people were not prepared to lay down and let Box shaft the Club and the City. Like all bully boys they crumble when people stand up to them. We have had a very close shave with this one because Newmarket and the future of the club were being sacrificed to let box and his puppy Mark Burns Williams get their way.
Lets all get behind Newmarket and let the fiefdom of Castleford get on with their stadium.

| Not churlish to pull out. If you had seen the house you wanted to buy, you wouldn't ask the surveyor to also have a look at the house down the road as well, even though you had no intention of moving into that one.

I quite agree; nothing churlish about it - Rod & Ted have decided to go up against Box and WMDC and, for now at least, it's paid off. Good for them, good for us and, importantly, good for the district - sporting facilities, jobs, inward investment; just what the Dr ordered.
As for the Cas statement - a bit cagey, a bit vague and more than a hint of sour grapes; I suspect that, like many of the more obtuse Cas posters we've had permanently camped here for the last couple of weeks, RW and Co were guilty of counting their chickens after Box's premature announcement. Some frantic backpedalling and readjusting of expectations has, no doubt, had to take place.
Now both clubs can get on with their own projects; hopefully Cas fans will throw their weight behind theirs rather than wishing ill on ours, and vice versa.

In what way would it have not been independant ? I hope you are not suggesting any wrongdoing by any councillor . Could you please post evidence that this was not an independant study, Im sure most people would like to see it.

| If I was a Cas fan I would be very very worried at this moment in time.
A statement about securing land to build on! You mean after 5 years of planning and 3 years of outline planning permission they didn't have that?
After such a strong statement of intent from us I was expecting a lot more from Cas. He manages to slip out of saying anything about the lack of funding, which has brought the project to a grinding halt for the last 3 years. This is the most important thing for Cas and the fans biggest fears, this he has failed to address.
Not surprising that a decent part of the statement is about having a dig at Newmarket and the not to happen so called feasibility study. Shame he couldn't find just one line to say they will never play there at least just to clarify the situation. We certainly did that about Glasshoughton.
Been the king of spin for the last few years it's a very poor effort for Dickies standards!

| The first paragraph is childish and rather a sly dig at Wakefield. I'd assume he seems rather upset that Wakefield had no interest in sharing GH and helping find the shortfall of cash. I wish Castleford every succcess in their future and i'm glad to see they're are persisting with GH whether that's phased or not.
But whether Cas suceed or not is irrelevant. The only thing that concerns me is Wakefield getting Newmarket ready asap
