Quote ="vastman"Well well well...
To be fair I don't know the full story about Moore but if it's the case it fully vindicates the point I was making to Amassada and other members of the La La gang - just joking with that bit
If this transpires it will be typical of the last 30 years at the club. For those who suggested we'd have both Moore and Lunt on our books this leaves me believing that to be a bit of a daydream. It's not a dig at the club, it's just blatantly obvious to me we can't really afford it.
It's possible nay necessary that we replace Moore with similar quality but that is as far as it can go IMHO. We can't afford Williams, keep Fafita and beef up the pack and then expect to have two SL class hookers available.
Trinity will always be about spinning plates and we do it better than anyone but there will always be take as well as give. We never have and we never will unless things change drastically run with a genuine full SL squad for any serious length of time. We always have been and still remain the worst funded team in SL.
Don't get me wrong I'd love to have Lunt and Moore available and again I'd love to be proved wrong but 30 years of experience and a basic understanding of finances leaves me doubting.
In fairness to the optimists and knowing Moore can be volatile maybes Lunt is coming and Moore isn't happy to play second fiddle - I'm really stretching here but hey who knows.
That said the loss of Moore who I rate highly is hugely offset by the signing of Williams who seems to offer far more far more of the time. Also whoever replaces Moore will almost certainly offers far more game time - it's a shame but it's all about money.'"
I have never suggested that Trinity sign Lunt as back up to Moore or as a replacement.
I read with interest media releases that come from CC who has stated he wanted to improve options/competition at half back which I suggested may be Sam Williams if the rumours in the press were true and they were despite some robust feedback on the forum.
I agree about the club may be having to spin plates financially and although Moore is a quality hooker he is injury prone and his disciplinary record this season (albeit hard done to maybe) poor. The club has to look at a cost/benefit analysis and whether a cheaper replacement can just be as effective like Boudebza and contribute more throughout the season.
I trust CC and MC and hope that Fifita signs a 1 year deal, we get Adam Walker and a decent second row replacement for A.Tupou!
If that means we have to also lose big contract players like Anthony Tupou and some fringe squad players like Anthony Walker & Andy Yates and others having a slightly smaller but more competitive squad then so be it.
