Quote ="bellycouldtackle"I could be wrong on this one but I seem to remember that there was some sort of a bust up between the club and the agent who looked after Gledhill / Gledhills, same agent who looked after the Griffin boys. Do not remember what the fall out was about but was told that the agent then went out of his way to get all his players away from the club : Josh Griffin to Crusaders, George Griffin to Hull KR, Gledhill senior to Salford. I also seem to remember that the agent tried to get one of the other Gledhill boys, who is still at the club, to Hudds.
Was told recently that the problem between the agent and the club was resolved when John Kear left and that the agent is now welcome at the club.
All the above is just rumour.'"
Anecdotes such as the above strengthens my feelings that player agents should be directly employed by the RFL and should a player wish to move on or need or find a new club they have access to said agent, who stands to gain no monetary reward from any deal other than his salary as paid for by the governing body. Sod this percentage malarkey.
Personal relationships with club officials should not even come into it and I would be seriously vexed if I were a players and my agent tried to shunt me on due to a disagreement between them and someone else at the club.
