Firstly, they are the same article.
Secondly, where does it confirm Trinity were one of the teams that voted agains Dewsbury?

| As said, same article and doesn't say anywhere that Trinity voted against anyone.
As for the story itself, the article seems to be from the week preceding the Hunslet v Dewsbury GF which Hunslet won by a point. The pre GF posturing by Dewsbury was just and only that 'Posturing'.
When Dewsbury went on to win the GF the following year, by a point over Leigh, their mettle was tested and they came up short. To be more precise Dewsbury Chairman Bob McDermotts mettle was tested and he decided it wasn't in the best interest of the club to go for their rightfully won promotion.
The decision went on to destroy the team that had risen through the NFP table year on year for the previous 7 seasons. Without any ambition the players didn't have the same resolve and commitment and results suffered, eventually Neil Kelly left for Widnes where he won the next GF and went to SL.
That's the real story, it was never the SL clubs that stopped Dewsbury from coming up it was the decision of one man who was Chairman of the club at the time.

apologies, this is the other article news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/rugby_league/813592.stm
Quotes from Bob Mac that counter those made by yourself
There is another peice that I can't immediately find that cites wakey as voting against Dews - it may have been in the wakey express or the P&C ... if I have the time and/or inclination I'll have a longer shufty cos that's the peice I really wanted and underpins my point.

| It does cite that Dews didn't get the 2/3 majority - Wakey WERE one of those voting against!
As I said, it's hardly the fall of Rome!
