Quote ="H2O"The only thing he did wrong for me was to penalise Smurph for having a hand in when you could quite clearly see that it was being heldc in by the Cas player.
Some of you may also like to watch the markings on the pitch in future because the ref was actually going back 11 yards therefore the players in front are onside but may appear to be off. =#BF0000Another problem we have a lot of the time in defence is that we take about 2 steps forward at the play the ball then wait for the opposition to come to us, whereas other teams take 4, 5 or even 6 paces and then make the tackle thus they again seem to be offside. IMO we need to move up quicker as a unit and stop the yardage.'"
I know exactly what you mean.... but....
On this occassion the opposition scored 1 try in 80 minutes - and none at all for 40. So on that showing there can't be much wrong with what we were doing?
Same thing regards the 'drab' description. One guy I was stood with was bemoaning the 'boring' nature of our game plan and the fact that we lacked any creativity. I suggested that we should judge it on 80 minutes and that it was likely that the intention was to soak up the oppositions enthusiasm and retain control and composure. it may not have been pretty enough for Phil Clarke, but it won us the 2 points!
