Quote ="adam9641"Celtic away - Was a strange one to say the least, after the game been called off last time it was I guess it was a weird game and a strange build up. The Wakey players will have wanted to do Leon proud as well as his family, and they sure did. The first half performance was fantastic, we ripped them apart!
Travelling down there was a nightmare, it was red hot and we were stuck on a stuffy blooming coach. Got sat near 2 strange fellas on coach too Was relieved to get off the coach and of course to the pub to freshen up, we got a great welcome from the Celtic fans who are a top set of people! Into the game and I was surprised how many Wakey fans traveled down, the atmosphere was pretty good as well and we even had a sing off with some Celtic fans eve though we were hammering them. Game went well as I’ve said, it was a top 1st half performance considering the heat. After the game it was time to set off back home, not before we gave the wakey lads a cheer as they got on the coach along with some free bottles of water from Colin (How I needed that) Then it was back on the coach, dreading the journey ahead. It was even warmer than on the way to Celtic too.
All in all setting off at 10am in the morning and not getting back till 4am the next morning was definitely worth it. Can't wait to go back next season!'"

and them two strange fellows must of been me and chissitt,
we met waiting for the bus having talked on the forum it was nice to put a face to a name,
the day started off on time, bright sunny day and we headed off to the m1 was going to a long journey, I had decided to go in respect for Leon and support the lads in which was going to be an emotional game, the journey was going fine, I had been treated to the finest of pork pies in the wakefield area by john, then I think it was Mansfield where there was an accident further down causing sever hold ups so the driver made a detour which put us maybe half an hour behind, after our pit stop and quick break we was off again,
on entering wales we noticed a sign that the road would be close so knew we was going to have delays coming out of wales having to go further down,
once we crossed into Wales the one thing that strikes you is the green valleys, on the right hand side was a large house/castle fit for the fairy tale Rapunzel.
we got to the ground and we looked for the watering hole which was behind the stadium

we needed to freshen up a bit and received a warm welcome from the celtic fans, one lad has said they are making the return journey up,(safe journey cru cru) we spent an hour or so there chatting rugby and the hopes for the new team in the league before moving into the ground,
the minutes silence was something that I will never forget,
in the second half the Celtic fans sat up above broke into voice with the traditional mining welsh men's choir, the hair stood up at the back of head as they could be heard all around the ground, they received an applause from the full Wakefield support, on coming out of the stadium we met up with these singers so it was nice to complement them personally,
the journey back took even longer having to take two more diversions, but we got back tied but satisfied,
the game was what I expected a professionally put together performance for the memory of Leon Walker
