This one comes from June 2004. Belle Vue was on the verge of being renamed the Atlantic Solutions Stadium and having already once being knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Trinity and humbled in the Super League fixture, both matches at Brentford FC's Griffin Park, London Broncos were hoping for the third time lucky theory with their long trip up the M1.
The Broncos struggled to find any kind of rythem thanks to early tries by David Solomona. The Kiwi second row forward would cross over the line twice more later on in the match, as his combination with Sid Domic proved too much for the hapless Broncos with Ben Jeffries also getting on the scoresheet for himself. Try of the match was provided by Sid Domic, from a Wakefield scrum, he ran seventy metres, shaking off evident cramp from the last twenty five before crashing over.
The scoreline was 48 - 18 in Wakefield's favour, which flattered London. Despite Wakefield's good form only a meagre crowd of aproximately 2, 500 attended the match.
In addition to this, from last year, actually coming home from The Stoop after witnessing the infamous second half collapse and Kevin Henderson's Marcus Bai impression. This minibus I was travelling in stopped at a service station on the M1 south of Leicester. However, the driver did not think to refuel while there and we had to call at Woolley Edge Services, with the time approaching midnight to get some more petrol before all passengers had to get out and push. While refuelling, we encountered this lost Scotsman who approached us:
"S'cuse me, ah wunda if ye can heeelp meh? I've bin driving up and doon thi motaway for three or four hoors now, and d'ye ken if Burmingharm is anywere near here?"
ARF!! You had to be there to believe it!
