I remember Rochdale selling the Athletic ground to help fund the club the rest is history I do not see how a small club with no sugar daddy can post losses of over 300K per season without getting into real trouble long term.
the 2nd can any of us see Wakefield averaging gates of 10,000 in the next 5 seasons never mind by 2012 I have always feared for one of Cas and us come 2012 and just can not see us both still being in after 2012 I also fear clubs like Widnes and Leigh will never be seriously looked at again
What happens when Quins and Celtic don’t get an average of even 5,000 by 2012'"
That is quite right, but in this case it was a conscious decision to imporve the quality of the club - on and off the pitch. This started with the investment in Domic and Solomona - and although they have left, there is no doubting that we have improved on the pitch from the era up to 2003 and that we have become a lot more professional off the pitch since then too (that's not saying we still haven't a long way to go yet!).
10,000 gates is very much desireable - but I still think that will be limited to Wigan / Leeds / Saints (just) / Bradford / Hull / and possibly, by then, Huddersfield / Catalans and Wire - at best 8 clubs - at worst only 5 - not enough for SL. So whilst we need to aspire to that figure, it won't be the end of the world if we're not there.
As JK said on Tuesday - if your riding high in the top 4/6/8, then you'll have a good chance of being in!
