| What about setting up a savings bank account in your own name, and then, using a Standing Order putting cash in there on a weekly/monthly basis. This doesn't have to be a huge amount, you will then get used to this amount coming out of your current account which you will then, after a while, not miss. The amount you save, you decide and, hey presto you have the best of both worlds, you have saved enough for your season ticket, and the cash is there for any emergency.
I have done this for many years and it works for me.....

I do something similar, on pay day I budget what I need for the week and transfer the excess from my current account into a linked online savings account, it takes seconds. If something crops up and I need to some more money, I transfer some back over and it clears instantly, even at weekends.

| Hi JD, nice to hear from you. Actually I filled in the form on the website to join Squadbuilder two weeks ago and have heard nothing. Perhaps something wrong with the system?

| Personally speaking I think It's superb that JD has interacting like this with fans through the message board.
I don't think this would happen at any club so a big well done, shows he really cares about moving the club forward.
As fans we should all be scraping the funds together and get a season ticket and let's back the manager.
Mon the Cougars.

| Have been a Cougars fan every game since 1989 but have watched then since I was in short trousers. Family have supported the club on and of the pitch since the 1920's. So I can say from experience that this coming season is so important and under JD have the best chance for almost 20 years of getting up there among the Featherstones, Batleys and Halifaxes and punch our weight with them. Who knows after that? Let's give the club all the backing we can. In JD we trust!

| Yes, it is good to see JD interacting with fans - can't see it happening at Arsenal! (or Norwich )
As far as Squadbuilder goes, mebbe a bit of info on friday night, for those going to watch the Grand Final on the big screen?

I'll have you know I once had a chat with Delia Smith outside Oakwell before a Barnsley Norwich game!

| Yes Stealth you are correct, we had a sponsors night and shirt launch night prior to Xmas last year when I did indeed sell you your season ticket
I also agree with Goosey that we did try in the town as it was at one such occasion that I first met Goosey when we went in Airedale Centre one Saturday morning to give away free family tickets to a sky game - not as easy as you would have thought - my most memorable response by a 'gentleman' when I offered him a free ticket was "I'd rather stick pins in my eyes" .... obviously I now realise he must have been a bulls supporter !
But I equally agree that a town prescence by JD and the lads in recognisable kit is paramount in the off-season especially ! Yes we tried it before with limited success but I believe the fans only want to see the Coach and Players ! They need to stand-out so what could be more eye-catching than these strapping lads in full grand final kit amongst the Keighley shoppers Obviously Freddie Cougar also stands out from the crowd so together they would be quite a positive presence promoting both squad builder and season tickets !

| A couple of 'leisurewear' shirts that can be worn out and about, with the Cougar badge on, for sale at the club. That way we can fly the flag without having to wear our figure-hugging matchday shirts!

Definitely. Great idea. If there were a couple of polo shirts / T-shirts available I would certainly be up for buying one, or maybe even more than one. I could spread the Cougar word up here in the north east.
Fantastic to see JD on this forum

Great idea and one I touted on here last season but it never got taken up. Maybe I have a simplistic view, but I can't see a reason for not selling these. I would think they would outsell the standard polo's with a cougar badge on. Also, the polo shirts the players wear have sponsor's logo's on. I would think if we sold these commercially maybe this could be an attractive selling point to potential sponsors. Not only will their logo be on the playing shirts, but also on the lesuire wear. If the club really feel the need to differentiate the players from supporters maybe they could do them in a different colour?

| The club are in a tricky position regarding polo/t shirts.
If they buy them and people dont, they lose money.
I think they should get some designs. Put them on here and get people to vote for there best ones.
Then people can pre-pay for them and then the club can order that amount.

Not really , polo,s / t shirts are ' generic , ie not sold in any particular season , like a replica playing shirt is
However the answer to merchandise at our level is collaboration between clubs , preferably all 20 , soon to be 24 clubs , hopefully I'll be in touch with your BOD fairly soon

| It is quite a quandry and a waste of money if you get it wrong. I was in Australia in 1998 just after Brisbane beat Canterbury in the first NRL grandfinal and there was an absolute ton of Canterbury winners merchandise on sale for 25 - 50 cents because they had got it all made up incase they won, but that must have cost the club a fair wedge.
In response to Lawkholme Len from a while ago, yes it was me that came up with the name Cougars, it was a fair while ago now I was only 7 at the time. Funnily enough I have recently moved house and came accross the news paper cutting from the Keighley News announcing the clubs name change, and next to it, an article on us signing Jonny Walker from Otley Rugby Union.

The LS Prints stuff looks good and was a really good idea.
I'm just of the impression that any item of clothing that the club uses in an official capacity, be it kit, training wear etc should be made available as merchandise. It surely can't be difficult to run a few more off in various sizes when they get them done for the players/coaches and when they sell them, they'll should effectively pay for the ones they've given to the staff for free.
