To he honest, I know nothing about this or what it means. It always worries me though when I hear things like this due to problems that have occurred before.

Should we be worried by this? I don't know, but whenever there is a positive around the club there is always some who will try and knock the club and hoping that this is nothing more than scaremongering.

That said I do not know what the implication of filing late is. A year end set of accounts can take some time to put together in my limited experience. It is no where near the same as failing to pay taxes.
Nevertheless, I am concerned, and would willingly volunteer to help and my accounting qualification into practice.

I may be wrong about this and await confirmation but new companies as in say cougars2010 are given breathing space as such in admitting their accounts in the 1st yr or so plus whilst being a ltd company depending on size do not need to publish the details.

As said this may be wrong but is my understanding of the rules.

Whilst it clearly does not on surface look good I am assuming till otherwise confirmed by the directors/club say different that thinga are ok.

Ok, I've been reading up quickly. I can't find anything about exemptions relating to the length of time in being.

However a company can file late with agreement with companies house.
Because of their size I would expect they can submit abbreviated accounts (but should still submit something).
Because of their size they can apply for exemption from being audited (but should still submit accounts to companies house).

Basically this all means nothing, it's a little concerning but without knowing the reasons and facts it is nothing more than idle gossip.

Why are alarm bells ringing in my head?

According to what I have just read a private company has go 21 months from date of incorporation which was 1st december 2009 to file accounts with companies house extensions can be applied for so personally not to worried although past history albeit different directors do make you wonder why its not been done.

I know staff at the club monitor this forum and I would urge the club to inform fans about this and Rob's departure. Whilst I fully accept and appreciate the club will not go into detail I do feel that this "uncertainty" could do with being cleared up. It could be much to do about nothing, however, without clarification people will speculate and possibly jump to conclusions. Is there a link between this issue and Rob's departure. Maybe not, but a statement from the club clarifying matters would certainly benefit me and many of the fans of here. There are still season tickets to be had and for some are an ideal present for Christmas. With his uncertainty fans may be put off so lets clear it up and get back to the many positives about the season ahead.

A couple of clubs according to Companies House Webcheck are overdue. These include Hunslet and Barrow (although i cannot be 100% sure the companies i found relate to the RLFC and not a foundation community group or something).

You get 9 months to pay your tax to HMRC/submit return to compies house from completion of accounting period.

The penalties are only small. Say they were 3 months late it would be about £750 penalty to companies house and £500 to HMRC (roughly). Not a huge deal of money. i wonder what tax the club owes? Surely in only one year of operation it would be very small....if anything. If the club ran at a loss there would be no coporation tax to pay.

I reckon it'll just be the shake up of the club etc has meant things are running behind schedule. If we were in huge financial trouble we surely wouold not be signing players, we can't get relegated next year so what would be the point?

Im not worrying at this stage, although some clarification from the club would be good. As soon as the accounts are submitted I will be buying a copy, they only cost a couple of quid.

An unpaid tax bill could explain the need for early saeson ticket sales? Also the deal was extended. I suppose the way the account dates fall could mean at the end of the season the pot of money reserved for paying tax/VAT was used on players. This is fine if you can guarnatee you get the cash back to pay on time.

Must be difficult times for all Rugby League clubs with money going out in preparation for 2012 season and virtually nothing coming in. Hence the need for people to come in put their money up now and buy season tickets and join squadbuilder. Rugby League was never a sport awash with excess cash.

The general public are not awash with cash right now.
Money is tight everywhere.

Agreed, but I get what Lawkholme Len is getting at. The club are very much reliant on fans buying tickets during the close season as there is no real volume of money coming in. Money is tight for everyone, but if more got behind the season ticket offer it would be cheaper for all and very cost effective.

I picked one up today down at the Club.
No problems or waiting.

I called rob weir to get two a few weeks ago, maybe in his departure the phone wasn't being manned?

I do think the club could make it easier, a downloadable order form on the website would enable mail order tickets via credit card/cheque. Maybe even a leaflet insert in the Keighley News/Craven/Wharfedale papers. Inserts are cheaper than adverts and im sure they could get an existing printer/sponsor to assist.

Hi All, I have had discussions with the directors in relation to the issues raised. The directors are have been working extremely hard over the last year and a half to get the club back in the positive since the administration and have made massive strides in doing so. The accounts have been completed and are being submitted as we speak. The Directors are in regular contact with inland revenue and companies house and everything is in satisfactory state, so need for panic. As I have said, I will not jeopardise the club financially with player recruitment and we have managed to put together a very good squad in line with the Salary cap. After a meeting with the RFL yesterday everything was passed through and we given a pat on the back for the work the directors especially, are doing to make Keighley Cougars a viable business. Obviously we want to hit our targets of at least 600 season tickets as this would generate excellent revenue but also create the rebirth of Cougar mania. The idea of the season ticket price structure is to structure it to the clubs affordability while offering value for money to our supporters and the deal is simple, the more we sell the cheaper they are. I believe we will have a big surge and hit our target of 600 which will give the supporters great value at £80 a season ticket. Lets have a big push on this and collectively we will all benefit from this scheme. I know some people have had trouble getting through at times but we now have Wendy volunteering her services to answer phones and sell the season ticket to which she is doing a fantastic job. If anyone can't get through leave your name and number and your request and Wendy will get back to you as soon as she can. In an ideal world we would have a receptionist but they cost money and we must all pitch in to get the job done. So basically the message is simple, this not a time for stressing and worrying, it is a time for optimism and excitment. Cougar mania is going to hit the championship in 2012 and I can't wait.

I think the last thing the club needs at the moment is unsavory rumour created by fans speculation.

Anything that hinders the clubs attempt to raise funds can't be good and it's refreshing to see that JD has nipped this in the bud now.

New Year and new season and we should be looking forward and, as said before, the best chance for many seasons of getting up at least in the big time of Championship where I believe we can punch our weight with the best. Let's grab this chance with both hands and stop looking back. Many thanks to Wonderful Wendy too for coming 'off the bench' (in the bar) and stepping in to (wo)man the phone. How many jobs is that she has done now?
