I and a select few others do all the chanting week after week ,getting fed up of it now,we get no response from the other ( cougar faithful) rant over.

Yep me and you Al,then theres stealth and obeone,my dad and a handful of others,gets very disheartening when others can't feel comfortable with it,the players thrive on it,I'm sure it's dragged us home in the past .

I like it and as there is far less music in the videos now I think the chanting on the videos give the atmosphere.

What particularly pi55ed me right off was that we made a concerted effort to keep the chants going all game. The minute Andy fairly criticised the amount of ball we were losing all game some stupid woman turned around and said "Why don't you pi55 off and support someone else."

The fact is at the moment it's less than 5% of the fans at the moment who are making 90% of the noise. Yet we get criticism the moment we turn on the team for not pulling their weight, this is a talented squad that should be performing far better than it is, you can't blame us for criticising.

If we didn't turn up the place would be like a library.

We've been trying to get the "Pass to Hutchy on the left hand side" chant out all season. Today was the first time we really got it going.

I couldn't make the game today so can't really comment too much on the chanting. However, last week against Haven was a little flat. I think it was inferred last week, but there are those that go and want to chant and those who just want to watch the game. The latter should not be criticised or made to feel inferior fans. I accept however that if a few more people jumped on the chanting bandwagon the atmosphere would lift. The question remains how can you get those chanting/singing?

The last 2 games have not been the best as a spectacle and the Cougars performance has been dissapointing which I think will directly influence whether people chant or not.

I’m not sure who it was, but one of your “singers” loudly and clearly used the “F” word at which point about 30 people turned round and as one told him to shut up. This response to swearing has happened at Cougars for years. It wasn’t because he expressed his opinion or was chanting but the language he chose to use. We’ve had this debate before, freedom of speech is one thing but abusive language in a family sport is another. There were several kids in that area. I didn’t hear anyone telling him to “Pi55 off”, but if you feel he is justified in swearing at the team how can you complain about others being abusive toward him???

Was the woman only “stupid” because she aimed it at him?

Or would she have been “clever” if she had aimed it at the team like he did??




The moment you criticise others, you are open to criticism in return, it’s what a democratic society is all about. You can examine any incident on a rugby field and find several different interpretations, all of whom will believe they are right.

I, like many others around me, join in with some of the singing during the game. I don’t go to Rugby to sing for 80 minutes but I have no problem with those that do and I enjoy hearing it.

Take a chill pill.

What if it was sung?

Not every one wants to chant.
And just by chanting wont get loads of people joining in.
