| Very sorry to hear about this. I have just read the article and my heart goes out to you, and especially your daughter who had to see all this happen, we have 2 dogs and the thought of this happening to mine fills me with sadness and the thought that my children could witness this makes the thought even more dreadful. I hope the dogs that did this to your dog do get put to sleep, I understand some people might think that this is harsh but to me once a dog attacks anything else especially to this extent it should then be put to sleep the dogs are now dangerous and it should not matter about the breed it should be about the threat they now pose. If you manage to get a petition sorted bring it to the game on sunday, I am sure you will get some support.
I hope you and your daughter are ok and that this does not have an effect on your daughter with regards to dogs in future.

| The link didn't work but [url=http://thejusticeofthepeace.blog.co.uk/2010/11/09/avoiding-the-dog-destruction-order-9940899/THIS[/url may be of interest and hopefully some assistance.
Try NOT to watch the x-rated video but note the attack in the house was NOT prosecuted - although there should be enough for the outside in the street situation - [url=http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/uknews/crime/9443236/Police-pitbull-attack-like-the-sickbay-after-the-Battle-of-Trafalgar.htmlStory[/url
I hope the shock and the frustration subside over time for you and your loved ones, and those affected.
Only a Tory government could bring in the Dangerous Dogs Act while ending the requirement for a dog licence.

| Shocking, I hope your daughter recovers.
ALL dogs in a public place should be muzzled, NO exceptions. Very visible, easy to police. Strict penalties for offenders.
I regularly walk my daughters Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepherd and would welcome such a move. I wouldn't let either play with other dogs without a supervised introduction.
The ideal situation is that it should be compulsory for all dog owners to attend training and socialisation for their dogs, but imo that is impossible to police.
I came across this site on my travels [urlhttp://dangerousdogsact.com/[/url I don't know if that helps - it is not an official site. However, there seem to be a variety of snippets of useful info, links to the Acts and ammendments, plus advice on lawyers if you want to pursue a civil claim.

| Really sorry to hear about your dog and daughter being attacked, words fail me.
I until recently, often came across them in lund park while walking my ex-girlfriends dog, just like to let everyone know what a fantastic and well trained dog Ted was,I know from seeing your daughter walking Ted just just how fond she was of him,I hope she will be ok in the long term.
I have noticed over the past several month the increase in the park of large aggressive dogs(and some small)not under control. Not more than 2 month ago I found myself in a heated discussion with the owner of a pit bull that was was on the loose near the children play area,at one point I was forced to pick my dog up and fend the pit bull off,the owner insisted it had never bit anyone,it then descended into a heated argument at that time a community support officer showed up and asked the man to leave the area with his dog and keep it under control,he did but not before threatening me with his dog,the law with regards to dogs in public places really does need looking at.

| I work in this field.
I am so sorry to hear of your loss as regards your dog. What an awful way to lose a much loved family pet and Im sorry a youngster was injured.
The dangerous dogs act is flawed.
However just to quell everyones anger it does appear the that Police HAVE taken action, the owner has been charged.
The dog can be seized if it is suspected of being a pit bull and assessed by experts. Different forces have different policies on whether they the dog is left with the owner or taken into kennels - mainly down to cost.
I hope the court makes the appropriate orders at trial.
