Having seen the state of the Tesco on Canal Rd in Frizinghall, I can honestly say the likes of Andrew Aspinall don't have too much to worry about. Sure Tesco's will be cheaper but the won't be able to anything like compete with the quality of the food or service.

Small businesses just need to find their niche in order to survive and grow, if customers think they're good enough then they will. All these supposedly big evil corporations started out the same way,as well run small businesses that sold products of good enough quality and priced in a way that folk were prepared to pay it yet the business would still make a good profit.

Where do the RFL stand in the picture (re CP) then?

Going bak to the original transaction (when Lawkholme was assigned/sold to the Co-Op) the amount that it brought was minimal - something like £20K (although a lot in those days) and I would have thought that there would have been a 'Buy-Back' clause in the Agreement somewhere.

I'm certain that I've seen a copy somewhere but does anyone out there know anything about it?

A few weeks back it was all over the papers about the RFL buying the Dulls ground, in the same story it also said that the RFL owns Cougar Park + a few other grounds.

The RFL lease Cougar Park off the Co-Op and sub-let it to us.
