Haye has just said he injured his right hand in the first 3 rounds and so could not be agressive as he wanted. Either way he did not fight his usual fight but got the job done. This has to be good for the heavyweight division!

I'm glad Haye won too but it was a waste of time to watch to be honest.

It wasn't boxing as I like to see but just hit and run tactics. No wonder the crowd was booing at times. Well done to David Haye. I wonder if the brothers from the Ukraine will be up next.

It was from a classic but it was never going to be one. You would have to be very brave/stupid to stay inside against Valuev. The guy has no technique but his reach and power ensure you need to stay on the outside

As a (very bad) boxer I have to say I enjoyed the fight. Ok it wasn't a classic but Hayes did everything he needed to do against a freak of nature like Valuev. At leather the boxer won. Have to say it was worried just before the score cards were read. I have to wonder whether "higher powers" may have had an influence on the decision? The saving grace is that at least the Heavyweight Division is worth watching again. Roll on Ruiz and then bring on the brothers.

Haye boxed smart, it was the only way he could have fought someone with such physical advantages. I thought it was enjoyable to see a boxer using his brains!

No basically you're right. Heavy weight boxing atm is dire, pacquiao v cotto next week tho should be just a completly different level to this. I just hope manny hasnt become too much of a celeb to concentrate on his fighting.

dont like to say i told you soo but Haye wore him out. Couldnt box to he's full ptential wither he broke hes hand in the 3rd. Good for boxing will get exciting fights for the belts now

tbh i didnt expect Haye to win, am not the biggest boxing fan but was still happy that Haye won, didnt pay to watch it went out on the lash instead got the result in one of the clubs i was in so am happy.

Say what you want about then fight, but Haye got it spot on. His tactics were excellent, you just don't trade with a guy that much bigger than you, you have to be smart. Haye boxed smart, used his speed and landed the cleaner shots. The only question mark was whether the judges would appreciate the in and out style - thankfully they did.

I've just read that Frank Warren has slated Haye's acheivement, saying that Valuev was a nothing champion and that Haye will only get any respect if he can beat the Klitchsko's.

I would actually respect Fish Eye's comments a little more, if he wasn't the promoter who spends all his time trying to ensure that all his fighters get the easiest path to a World Title, and spends most of his time ripping off the public with diabolically over priced, mis matched bills.

Before he starts to bleat about Haye, he wants to take a look at Amir Khan, who, most people agree, gained a title through beating the p4p worst World Champion there was out there.

Also his promotions over the years of fighters like Bruno, Hatton & Calzaghe have been nothing short of scandalous, especially the latter 2, who were fed a sucession of a rent-a-bums, whilst charging the public a fortune to see them.
