| Quote ="El Pac Carnegie"Fan boy opinion vs one of the all time best defensive players opinion. I'm going with Rod on this one.
Brady's very good but to say he's a better player than the all time leading rusher is stupid. As has been said. In todays NFL where you can barely sneeze near a QB without drawing a flag Marino would have posted untouchable numbers.
Do you honestly, without your bias, think there have only been 20 players ever that are better than Brady? Honestly?'"
3rd highest QB rating ever
3-1 in the Super Bowl
Fastest QB to 100 wins
First QB to throw 200 TD's with under 100 INT's
Most touchdowns in a single season
Woodson was hating on Brady as he ALWAYS does, same goes for that buffoon Dukes, Brady is the 2nd best QB of all time so easily a top 10 player in NFL history.
Super Peyton Manning has 2 TDs and 2 INTs in the Super Bowl, chokes on regular occasions in the playoffs and Favre has far too many picks to be even talked about in the same breath as Montana, Brady & Manning it's them 3 and the rest.
Elway lost every Super Bowl he was in without TD running for him and Marino choked hence his 0 rings.

Right ok. For starters Brady has the sixth-highest career passer rating of all time (93.5) among quarterbacks with at least 1,500 career passing attempts. So that first point is wrong.
Well done to him. I assume that's all down to him? I think you are doing a great disservice to Belichek and the rest of the Patriots. They were that good at one point that the Pats rode Matt Cassel to an 11-5 season. Though of course that was all Cassels work I assume?
Again a very impressive stat. The nature of the game in the past ensured that Marino and company wouldn't have had a chance. Hell take a look at Elway and Montana. It's a very impressive stat though.
Don't think you can count that 50 TD season under your "definition of greatness" rules. 23 of those TD's were caught by future Hall of Famer Randy Moss.
Manning chokes in the playoffs yet he's in the top 3 QB's ever? Interesting. Take a look at the stats for the 3 Superbowls Brady has won. You claim he had no support cast yet the team ran for over 90 yards on each occasion. Twice over 100.
Brady is very, very good. He may become the best of all time. But I personally wouldn't say he's even the best in the league.

| I would like to see the full list before I comment, Emmitt Smith being as low as he is, is quite comical IMO, whoever did the list needs to be tested for drugs !!
I dont think players who are still active should be in the "greatest ever players" anyway FWIW.
As an example lets use Brady. He could win another 2/3 superbowls and put himself number 1 on the list or he could have 5 losing seasons and drop of the list altogether IMO

NFL.com poll vote it came up like
PLAYER A PLAYER B
Then you voted for whichever player, then it kept going round in loops so you might have got
Brady v Marshall Faulk
Marshall Faulk v Emmitt Smith
Brady v Emmitt Smith
Peyton Manning v Joe Montana
etc then the most votes won.
(unless the "experts" got a pick after the fans vote too)

| People like Lawrence Taylor should be high on the list, he changed the way defence is played. In reference to greatest ever, it's hard to just base it on numbers alone as a lot of players missed time due to being involed in wars.

I agree to be fair. You can't judge a career until it conclusion really. I was just taken aback by Gaslight claiming that Brady was a shining beacon dragging a pile of to glory above its station. Which clearly isn't true. Brady has had an exceptional team around him with an exceptional (cheating) coach guiding the way.

With the exception of the early giants reams that had Landry and Lombardi as co-ordinators. The 1990 superbowl champion giants had a great cast of future coaches.

| Has anybody got the list of players where Brady ranked 21st, the video just isn't loading for me.
Thats probably a good spot really. He is maybe the 5th best QB of all time. Montana, Favre, Elway, Marino (in no particular order) above him and then a few in and around him. Obviously he could move up with a few more Superbowl wins (this time without cheating! )
Then there are other great players like Reggie White, Jerry Rice, Barry Sanders etc in other positions.

I think that is definately wrong. Elway and particularly Marino should be above him.
Also Marshall Faulk, Kurt Warner, Ed Reed, Steve Young and Michael Irvin are ridiculously low IMO.

Not really because Elway was really not that good, he couldn't hit a barn door at times, when he lost arm strength and gained TD he got better, Marino was just a stat machine like Rivers is now then when it matters where is he? sat at home watching.
Also there is no way Favre is or was a better QB than Brady I'd take the QB who throws less picks and makes less errors any day of the week because they will win you the championships, not cost you them like Favre has for a number of years.

Seriously, at no point would I pick Brett Favre over about 10 other QB's to have in a team. Montana would start with Brady as his backup, then after them 2 it's one big clump of QB's who could go anywhere between 3-10.
And if you used just the last 10 years I'd still pick at least 5 QB's over Favre, I just really don't like his "gun slinging" when that's just a fancy way of calling him an interception machine.

Name the ten EVER that are better than Favre and then the 5 in the last 10 years.
Whatever my view is of Brady to have him the second best QB EVER is the biggest "homer" post ever on here, including some made by me.

| "Elway wasn't that good"
"Marino was just a stat machine"
One player doesn't make a team. It's not all about the rings. Troy Brown won 3 rings with the Patriots but he sure as hell isn't close to being one of the best receivers of all time.
It was Vinatieri that scored the points that won all 3 Super Bowls, not Brady. In the game against Carolina, their kicker kicked the ball out of bounds on the final drive giving the Patriots fantastic field position - it was hardly an epic game-winning drive.
Brady is a very good QB but I personally think he's a touch overrated. He's in a system that suits him down to the ground and he's had a successful career because of it. I'd definitely put Marino, who was on a fairly average team, and Elway ahead of him in the list. That could obviously change as he's not finished his career yet though

Brady has played in more than 1 system in NE though...
Weis had a different system to McDaniels who in turn has a different system to what Bill O'Brien has now.
If you want to say the system suited a QB don't you have to say the west coast offense was suited for Montana? you can't use one argument for one player and not for another - same goes for Manning he's had 3 different systems in his whole life.

What did Patten, Branch and Givens do when they left NE? nothing...
There was a running game and a great D, but that same team did what with Bledsoe?

| You have tinted glasses I know but you are putting Brady on to higher pedestal. He's very good but as I've said previously I don't even think he's the best QB in the league.
No Superbowl team is going to be blessed with elite talent across the board. That's the role of the salary cap. You want me to go through winning Superbowl teams of the last few seasons and find you players who did nothing after they won it? I'm sure there will be a bucket load. I can probably find you a few that played for the Rams in 99 and 01.
If you are talking about systems then Manning is a system IMO. He has the highest football IQ of anyone in the league. He is the best QB I have seen play the game since I started watching.

Got to agree with that, the way Manning sees the game 95% of the time is just brilliant, and the other 5% is when he out thinks himself or the line breaks down in front of him.
