| 6-0 is not a reflection of the game? You don't lose 6-0 without being awful at the top level. If Roberto is replaced will Whelan go English? You know in the way that Martinez is English

Wigan were the better side in the first half.
However, they barely created a chance and Chelsea managed to go in at half time 1-0 ahead.
The second half was a 5-0 stroll for Chelsea.
IMO Martinez's biggest fault is that he should have killed off the game at 3-0 and just taken that defeat. Instead everything stayed the same with Wigan trying to get a consolation and Chelsea stroll to a 6-0 win.
I don't think getting done by Chelsea will be what gets Martinez the sack. But getting done by Blackpool 4-0 will. I think'll stuff Hartlepool in the week, get turned over by Spurs and Martinez will have the Sunderland game to keep his job.

| Quote ="Robbie Rotten"New midfielder came, was playing in November, waited about 5 months to get a chance, was the brightest part of the team in a dire finish to the season. Result? Loaned out to Juve. Not sold, not player traded, but loaned!
I'm not gonna contradict myself, I said before he came and when he came, my biggest fear with Roy was his ability in the transfer market and the type of player he likes to manage. Look at what he signed at Fulham, it's scary, then I see us signing Poulsen and trying to sign Luke Young/Konchesky/Figueroa, it's scary what type of player he's deeming good enough for us.
Aquilani - on pure footballing talent - is right up there with the best in the league, in terms of passing, touch, technique, vision and sheer ability, he is immense, whilst he shown last season he has terrific energy levels. I refuse to believe he's too 'lightweight' and I refuse to believe it's a fitness thing. He's better than Joe Cole, so I can't understand what Roy's motive is by letting him go.'"
This must be based on what you have seen of him in Serie A as he has not shown that over here on an anywhere near consistent basis. Something can't be right with him, Rafa did not play him and now Roy.

He's the one who broke Elano at the World Cup. I haven't seen much of him myself so cannot comment but he plays in a postion we desperately need to strengthen. Read a few Dutch forums about him, Twente fans rate him very highly which is good news.

Good.
Does that mean we can finally get rid of Alan Smith? ? ?

It's about all you can base it off, he was barely given a sniff over here, when he did play, he was very good when you take everything into account, exceptional, actually.
No club with 'targets' loans out a player of that quality: would United loan Anderson out? Would Arsenal loan Ramsey out? Would Chelsea loan Mikel out? Unlikely, yet we have done so ruthlessly.
We'll regret it, in our first few games under Roy, we've failed to get our passing game going, largely 'cause it hasn't been there. Signing Poulsen and letting Aquilani go makes things even worse.

| Didn't Elmander score 2 at Sunderland last year or something, then not score for another few months? 2 goals against West Ham probably won't change that much.

| What's Chris Hoy doing on that Stoke non-goal? He has a clear view and is about to give a goal before looking at his linesman, who is behind a whole load of players with no clear view of the incident, for confirmation. Linesman can't see it so doesn't signal anything. Poor effort

Exactly. At the least it should have been handball. The linesman can't give anything, he has no view. The referee has to back himself.

Fair enough if he waves it away and says it hasn't gone over the line but he didn't he claimed not to have seen it even though he went to give the goal put his whistle to his lips and then bottled it

I only saw it once and was only looking to see if the ball crossed the line.
I didn't think the ball crossed the line when I saw it.
The way you describe it Hoy could have thought a goal was going to be scored and automatically reacted to give the goal. Then the ball is stopped on the line, he feels a goal hasn't been scored but rightly checks to see if his lino thinks otherwise. The lino says he was unsighted so he goes back to his original position that no goal has been scored.
I've just watched the incident again on a net highlights site. I don't think the ball crossed the line. From the replay on that site I'd say there's no evidence of handball and no evidence that Hoy was going to give the goal.
I think Hoy made the right decision.

I'd recommend you watch the Goals on Sunday explanation of the "goal". The ball crossed the line, there is no doubt about this. The positioning of Crouch's body shows this.
