You are deluded.....I mentioned it in another post, but Dalglish's managerial record isn't the golden one that many Liverpool fans believe.

He was actually the catalyst for Liverpool's 90's demise, not Souness.....Souness just failed to stop the rot that was already in at Anfield.

At Blackburn (when they were THE big spenders in English football), he struggled to get them into the Premier League, then almost managed to throw away the title, when he had it sewn up months from the end.....He then had another of his blow-outs when the pressure got too much.

At Newcastle, he took on an exciting, free-flowing Keegan side and turned them into an awful-to-watch side, eventually leaving with little sympathy from the Toon faithful.

He was a fantastic player, no doubt, but coming back into management when you haven't done the job for over a decade is a massive high risk move......Just take a look what happened at Everton, when they attempted to turn back the clock to the glory days of the 80's with Howard Kendall....This appointment of Dalglish has a similar look to it.

Surely you understand where he's coming from though? Whether you agree with him or not a hell of a lot has changed since Kenny last managed a team. Even more has changed since he managed a team well. Kenny may well do brilliantly but I personally just can't see it.

I can fully understand your relief at Hodgson's dismissal and the appointment of a club legend like Dalglish, but seriously, what makes you so convinced that Kenny being in charge is a good thing?

I appreciate there will the inevitable short term uplift in spirits and results, which always seems to happen when a new manager comes in, but in reality, is Dalglish for Hodgson really any sort of improvement?

I can accept that, but that can pretty much go for any manager you might bring in.....I'm just curious to know why a fella with no managerial work for over 10 years and over 20 since he was having any credible success should be wanted so much by the fans....If you brought in George Graham most of your fans would be appalled, yet he has similar, if not better qualifications to do the job than Dalglish.....Ultimately, in your desire to bring back the glory days, you have to be careful not to literally go back there and discover that the Golden times weren't quite the joyride you seem to think it was.

You simply don't take a job if you aren't happy with those you have to manage. If Roy didn't want those players, then he shouldn't have taken the job. Same applies with Kenny, but I feel Kenny knows how to get more from this lot than Roy.

However, I don't believe we'll make many moves in this transfer market, although I do feel Kenny has a better understanding of where we want to go, particularly after working at the academy for the past few years.

Whether the past is 1 year ago or 20 years ago, its always the past.....You need to be looking forward and Dalglish is definitely not that..He's a reminder of when times may have been better, but ultimately it was another era entirely....Its a rose tinted appointment, pandering to the nostalgics.

You need a ONeill to steady your ship and get you back on track, or for a truly fresh start you wouldn't go far wrong bringing in somebody like Owen Coyle, who would be a complete break from the past, both recent or distant.

They have Reina, Carragher, Gerrard and Torres probably one of the best spines around. It's players around them that are awful. Glen Johnson..if he was to be put on the transfer list, who'd buy him? He can't defend for toffee. Surpisingly Phil Thompson actually spoke alot of sense r.e Hodgson and was very fair. Who would you like long term?
