| Quote ="The Angry Pirate"How can you seriously say Mayweather is boring???...
.....His only fault is that he is simply too good for his often outclassed opponent, thus turning the bout into a one-sided affair, which I suppose then strips the fight of its excitement.'"
You've answered your own question there. He is a defensive fighter and it's difficult to break him down. The problem I have with Mayweather is even when he's dominating the fight and landing good shots he's not overly bothered about knocking a guy out like Pacquiao would be for example. He's a safe fighter first and foremost and that makes his fights a little boring at times.
Quote ="The Angry Pirate"It may sound odd, but for a more even contest, I'd like to see Cotto take on Mayweather rather than Pacman....Cotto is more Mayweather's weight equal, something Pacquaio and Marquez aren't....Mayweather would still win, but I just feel Cotto would pose more of a threat.'"
I love Cotto, he's a very good boxer, but I just feel he isn't quick enough to land enough punches to beat Mayweather. He's definitely got the power though.

The problem about not being quick enough probably applies to any contender out there to be honest.....Cotto is probably the best equipped of those contenders, so it would be good just to see how he would get on.
Margarito would have been a fascinating opponent too, though the problems surrounding him has certainly blighted his reputation.
I'm certainly not Amir Khan's biggest fan either, but the recent change in style that Khan has adopted would also be a good match up against Mayweather, as Roach has finally got through to Khan that boxing isn't just about standing toe to toe in the middle of the ring..... I just hope that Ricky Hatton isn't tempted to take on Khan, as I fear his already damaged reputation might suffer another knock and that would be sad to go out on a domestic defeat.

| Margarito is one dimensional. Mosley bitchslapped him and so did Cotto for 6 rounds. Mayweather would torture him for 12 rounds.
As for Khan, he's got a great future ahead of him, but he's not even close to Mayweather. He still makes mistakes and Mayweather would pick up on that quickly.
The best three contenders IMO are Pacquaio, Mosley and Cotto. I'd still back Mayweather against all three.

I agree entirely, though my point about Khan's style was more about the style of fighting, than Khan himself, actually being the threat to Mayweather ...(if you get my confusing drift??!!??).
I'm not entirely sure it would be an entertaining fight either, with both fighters looking to box on the counter, protecting their respective chins. (Especially Khan, who we all know can be tagged).

| Khan is more like Pacquaio in style and mentality though. He is an attacking boxer by nature, whereas Mayweather is a defensive counter puncher.

Yes, but Roach seems to have convinced Khan to rein that in a bit.... There certainly isn't anymore gung-ho, chin-in-the-air stuff anymore, and I reckon IF (and its a big if) Khan & Mayweather ever met, Roach would drill it into him even more that safety first is paramount, especially early on.

For me Mayweather, as boring as he is to watch at times, is brilliant and I just can#t see anyone beating him.'"
I agree, the only person who will beat Floyd is Floyd, still he has a couple of interesting fights ahead of him. The commentator after the fight was shocking, anyone would think he was the star attraction!

If Cotto beats Pac (which he certainly can, and it seems a lot of people are overlooking him) then Mayweather will have to fight Cotto next.

I think Mayweather is already on his way to being classed as being one of the greatest [i(Just My Personal Opinion)[/i i mean Six World Boxing Championships in Five Different Weight Classes means you are quite Phenomenal and the way he looks so at ease in a boxing ring is unbelievable i like everything about the guy, Agreed though to take out 2/3 of the names mentioned then he'd definitely be in the Top 10 IMO...
Who would be your No1 because Sugar Ray Robinson is generally considered the Greatest Fighter of All-Time.'"
I'd probably rate.
Sugar Ray Robinson
Henry Armstrong
Roberto Duran
Ali
Pernell Whitiker
Sugar Ray Leonard (althought, I hate him)
Sam Langford
Willie Pep
Joe Louis
Jimmy Wilde
Obviously I haven't seen all those fighters live, but thats based on records, and achievments, and is in no particular order. Floyd is already on a par with Whittikar, and is one win away from being rated higher than Leonard. IMO.

Was more using Khan's style of fighting as an example, rather than Khan himself.....Only somebody with equal handspeed and speed of movement will pose Mayweather any problems, all the aggressive, come forward, face first fighters, like Hatton & Marquez have just be made to look silly.
By the way, if Khan & Hatton ever meet I'm afraid there is only 1 outcome, and that is Ricky being pummelled again....the fella is finished and has been since the Tszyu (spelling??... ![Confused icon_confused.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_confused.gif) ) fight.

Well, he's a former world champion at that weight. He probably won't fight Williams, but if he did it would probably be his best win.

| Mayweather does actually look unbeatabl. Your saying put him against a simliar boxer but hes too smart and too clever for anybody to get near him he made a world class fighter look garbage on saturday. I think Moseley might have talked himself into Mayweather next fight was cvery disrescptful and Mayweather will clean him. There are only a few that if that are higher than Mayweather (Leonard,Robinson,Ali, Marciano and maybe Hagler) 2 more wins and Mayweather is the greatest of all time. Love him or hate him hes awesome

Marciano? Floyd is waaay higher than him in the p4p rankings IMO. He's above Hagler as well.

Why would Floyd want Mosley? They guy is nearly 40!
If Pacquiao does the business on Cotto, which he surely will, Mayweather and Pacquiao would be an absolutely awesome fight!

Hatton would murder him as well, Amir cannot take a punch.

One thing that Mayweather and his people have excelled at in the last few years, more than anything else, is picking opponents that are tailor made for a Mayweather victory — even De La Hoya. For that reason, I'd hazard a guess he would prefer Cotto or even Pacman to Mosley.

I think you and a lot of people will be in for a suprise when the Cotto-Pac fight comes around. I can't believe how much Cotto is being written off.
Although Floyd would leather them all.
