Dzeko is a confirmed Merc

Don't quite get these type of signings.....Lot of money on a totally unproven striker.
Yes, his stats look good, but how many strikers have come from foreign leagues only to be exposed as pretty average?
What I don't get, is that if you have the unlimted spending power that City seem to have, why continually waste it on players like Dzeko and his sort, when you could simply go out and buy proven quality like Torres for a little bit more?
£27m on Dzeko = gamble.....£50m on Torres = Guaranteed goals.
It's a no brainer.

| Sky as well. Dalglish in charge now. The fans get what they want. Going to be funny if Dalglish bombs like he did towards the end of his managerial career.

| Good stuff....So King Kenny, the man who has spent more time in rehab recovering from his football induced breakdowns, is in charge of the relegation threatened Liverpool....All the ingredients in place for a real good mess at Anfield!!!....
For Liverpool's sake, I hope they have a permanent replacement lined up, because Kenny will be a gibbering wreck by the time the clocks go forward.

I think the rationale is that Dzeko better complements the players we already have. Who knows, he might end up playing alongside Torres, but I think that will depend on the long term Tevez situation.
The players that we've signed under Mancini (Johnson, Balotelli, Kolarov, Toure, Boateng, Silva, Milner, Dzeko) dont seem to me to represent "continually wasted" money. We've paid more than their market value, which is a fact of life for us. We've signed players that may not yet be superstars but are quite young and have lots of potential. I much prefer that approach than trying to fill the team with established superstars.

| RH Statement: "Being asked to manage Liverpool Football Club was a great privilege. Any manager would be honoured to manage a club with such an incredible history, such embedded tradition and such an amazing set of fans. Liverpool is one of the great clubs in world football. I have, however, found the last few months some of the most challenging of my career. I am very sad not to have been able to put my stamp on the squad, to be given the time to bring new players into the club in this transfer window and to have been able to be part of the rebuilding process at Liverpool. The club has some great, world-class players, with whom it has been a pleasure to work and I wish the entire squad well for the rest of the season. I thank those with whom I have built up a close working relationship at the club for their loyalty and support during very testing times, and finally of course to the Liverpool fans, your passion and dedication to the club will see Liverpool at the top of the game once more."
John W Henry Statement: "We are delighted that Kenny Dalglish has agreed to step in and manage the team for Sunday's FA Cup tie at Old Trafford and for the remainder of the season. "Kenny was not just a legendary footballer, he was the third of our three most successful managers - three giants. We are extraordinarily fortunate and grateful that he has decided to step in during the middle of this season."

His football CV is beyond scrutiny - totally brilliant player.
in terms of management, he's been out of the game a long time - hardly a total success post Blackburn.
when he 'inherited' liverpool - they were in somewhat of a better shape than they are now, in terms of ethos, standing in the game, confidence, the club was a an efficient winning machine in those day
media scrutiny has gone up hugely since his blackburn days, he didn't seem that fond of it last time he was managing, i don't suppose we have any idea yet as to what extent the new owners will back him in the transfer market or if they do whether the targets he fancies would want to go to liverpool.
time will tell - i think he'll find it very very tough.

| It'll be interesting to see if LFC fans apply the same logic to KD's result's as they did to Hodgson. I somehow think not.

Well isn't that blatantly obvious? One is an absolute cretin, appointed by a cretin and had absolutely no affiliation with the club. The other is deemed the club's greatest player; by far and out the fans' favourite and everything Kenny means to the club mean his results won't be viewed with the same kind of scrutiny, but it's leeway he's earned through having such a stunning history with the club and its supporters. That may not be fair, it may even prove us to be 'fickle', but, at the end of the day, that's the way it goes when people have favourites.

Your right he's not done anything since coming 2nd with Newcastle but he success as a player and his 4 titles plus 2 FA Cups as manager is up there with the best.
He wanted the job before Roy came in because he felt he could do a better job then the names Purslow had on the list, its what Kenny wants he's ready for it 1989 really messed him up but this is his time again.

If Dalglish struggles it will be the team Hodgson left him, when Hodgson struggled it wasn't Rafa left him. I don't think that will happen to be honest as I think the players and club will be galvanised by Dalglish.

Does it?
His time to manage Liverpool again is what I am suggesting.
Yes we are in the upper bit tomorrow.

Yeah, it can be viewed both ways. Today's events will make the atmosphere even better. Like the old days when away fans got more tickets than the few thousand they get now. I'm fearing a Leeds type performance from us though.
