Hoppa hailed as Aussie Tyson
![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif) JOHN Hopoate retained his Australian heavyweight title without breaking into a sweat - then was told by his rival he had more power than former world champion Mike Tyson.
Hopoate won a unanimous points decision (99-90, 99-91, 97-94) against a sloppy and ragged Bob Mirovic last night in Canberra to get his professional career back on track.
And the words from Mirovic, who at 43 is now almost certain to finally walk away from the sport, would have been comforting.
"Hoppa is as strong as a bloody ox. I spent six weeks sparring Mike Tyson in America and I deadset believe John is stronger than Tyson," a bruised and battered Mirovic told One HD. "Tyson in his day may have been different, but John is very powerful and strong.
"The first time we fought I wasn't prepared like I should have been. But tonight there were no excuses."

That strong that he couldn't get a 43 year old out of there in 10 rounds. Oh, and didn't Hopoate get knocked out by McCall in 2 rounds a few months ago.
Sounds brilliant. ![Laughing icon_lol.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_lol.gif)

Pacquiao & Mayweather lead active fighters in the World's Greatest Ever Boxers Promo. The two greatest pound-for-pound boxers today, Manny Pacquiao and Floyd Mayweather, Jr., lead a group of eight active champions in "The World's Greatest Ever Boxers" (TWGEB) promotion.
On-line voting at www.GreatestEver.com allows boxing fans from around the world to select the greatest boxer in each of the original eight weight classes, highlighted by the all-time pound-for-pound “Greatest Ever.”
Pacquiao (49-3-2, 37 KOs), riding a 10-fight win streak against a contemporary “Who’s Who” list of world-class boxers, is 3-0 versus other TWGEB nominees, Marco Antonio Barrera (twice) and Oscar de la Hoya. A candidate in TWGEB featherweight division, “Pac Man” has held world titles in five different weight classes, defeating other world champions such as Ricky Hatton, David Diaz, Juan Manuel Marquez and Erik Morales (twice).
Mayweather (39-0, 25 KOs) joins Rocky Marciano, Ricardo Lopez, and Joe Calzaghe as the only unbeaten TWGEB nominees. “Pretty Boy” Floyd, or “Money” Mayweather, retired after stopping Hatton in December of 2007, but he’s returning September 19 to fight Marquez. Mayweather, a lightweight TWGEB candidate, has captured six world titles in five different weight classes.
The six other active fighters who are TWGEB nominees are heavyweight Evander “The Real Deal” Holyfield (42-10-2, 27 KOs), light heavyweight Roy Jones, Jr. (53-5, 39 Kos), middleweight Bernard “The Executioner” Hopkins (49-5-1, 32 KOs), featherweight Marcos Antonio “Baby Faced Assassin” Barrera (65-7, 43 KOs), bantamweight Hosumi Hasegawa (27-2, 11 KOs) and flyweight Vic “The Raging Bull” Darchinyan (32-2-1, 26 KOs).

Yeah, 19th September. Same night as Haye's fight.
Mayweather will probably win, but if I was to put any man against Mayweather it would be Marquez or Pacquaio. Outstanding fighter.

| Just watched McDermott vs Fury and i'd say McDermott took 8 out of 10 rounds yet still lost on the scorecard absolutely shocking decision. The fight was a cracker though with lots of puching instead of the hug-a-thons you normally see at heavyweight

I had McDermott by 2 round and everyone else on sky and the press had him by 4 it was worse than some of the decisions you see on Eurosport when they show German boxing involving Otkie

| It was a draw at best for Fury IMO. Still, he proves he's got heart and a decent chin, but his footwork, and timing needs alot of work. Still when you consider he's 20 and he's only fought 16 rounds as a pro before tonights its impressive. He needs a top trainer who will be able to get him in shap, boost his power, and help him learn how to use his physical advantages to full effect.

He's young and will learn. Not sure his people would want to get bogged down in a re-match (though with the uncertainty about whether he won I can see why he himself would want another go at him).
He's about 10 years younger than your average top heavyweight so if he can keep his interest and motivation fighting journeymen/has beens over the next 3 or 4 years then he might be ready to fulfill his potential but if they try to push him too far too early all his undoubted promise might go to waste.

I would not have done so in a month of sundays
As the ref raised Fury's hand whilst they were still tangled together somewhat I felt sure he was going to realise he had grabbed the wrong man but as the ref has to mark each round as he goes along it must have tied in with what he was handing to the officials after every round.
Very strange though.

Wouldn't have backed him at 100/1. One of the worst decisions I've ever seen. It's not like the ref showed any shame and scored it 96-95 or anything like that either! 98-92. Bullshat.

Even more so as McDermott should have been the winner of the first Danny Williams fight too and I feel was robbed by that points decision also.
