I was sweating a bit, I didn't realise the game had been delayed for 10 mins by an injury.
But the late scores were predictable, when they were averaging close to a point a minute.

To be honest the second half was painful to watch as have been the second halves of the previous two games.

| Swann 16/1 MOM for the first ashes test. Supposedly a spinners paradise so he could be the man to watch if we are to win.

Not in the traditional sense of a double it's not. You wuoldn't have 5/1 1-0 and 5/1 first goal as 25/1.
It would likely be 16/1 instead since the two bets are related (commonly called related contingency).

Robert Croft and Dean Cosker have certainly had longer careers than most county spinners because of that pitch but I think there are runs to be had and it is likely that the MOM will be a batsman who can pile on some runs.

| Anyone got any views on the Women's US Open Golf this week???
I know a few on here follow the tour and with the betting being wide open I wonder if anyone has a bit of info to point us in the right direction.

Will do mate, definitely!
Well done the other day on taking money from the enemy, that's as far as the well done's go though..
So back to the horses then....
Start of some good racing tomorrow and am in a real dilemna. As a betting rule there's two jockey's who I won't back, one of those... Richard Hills, is on what I consider to be two 'good' things tomorrow.
2.35 - Newmarket - Habaayib lowered the colours of a real talking horse in the Albany at Royal Ascot winning very nicely indeed, if the runner up is as good as they reckon, then this is a serious horse and should win this doing handstands.
5.30 - Newmarket - Last Three Minutes was arguably one of the eyecatchers of the season when finishing a close 3rd to Kavachi at York last time finding all sorts of trouble 2 furlongs out before finishing like an express train and just failing to get up. Is a horse that has to be held up and come late, but for the trouble last time would surely have won comfortably, the 4th home that day...Acrostic... boosted the form at the weekend by winning a very competitive handicap at Sandown, so off only a 3lb higher mark this looks to have a cracking chance.
The other interesting one for me tomorrow is Goldikova in the Falmouth Stakes at 3.10. Can you forgive her the poor re-appearence run and can she recapture the spark from last season? I think she can, and if she can then the 2/1 - 5/2 could turn out to be a cracking price.

Call it a scorecast, related contingency, a double or whatever. However the point was the first goal scorer and a match result is just the same as the top run scorer and the match result is it not??? So why do they not allow it in cricket??

| That oss dark moment I tipped last week goes again today at catterick but I can't get in touch with my bro who knows the owner but I do know they want another "touch" before the h capper gets hold of it. They had planned to run it Sunday but the ground was to soft so they pulled it out it has a 6lb penalty though they was saying sat that's not a bother as its still hammering higer marked horses at home. Like I say I not had the word but it has been backed this morn 7/1>11/2! Make of it what you will.....

Cricket has only 3 results win lose or draw.
Football correct scores have numerous combinations so you are not comparing like with like.
If you wanted Owen first goalscorer and Man Utd win the first match of the season they would not have accepted that bet either (as a multiple).

Yes but if a player hits a double century, its more likely that the team will win.
Imagine top runs scorer is 5/1 and the win is 2/1. Obviously if your man hits a double century than the bookies aren't going to give you 2/1 and 10/1 on the double for it are they?

Because one outcome effects the other - and if you want to do a bet like that you'd need to get a price for the correct score in the cricket ie. England by 5 wickets (if you want to be pedantic and compare like with like) and then Matt Prior top run scorer.
You might get 20/1 and 8/1 and they'd work out the price in Ladbrokes trading room (or whoever you bet with)

| Another piece of advice.... never change your mind and always stick to the rules you set yourself. Today I foolishly lifted my ban on backing any mount of Richard Hills and paid the price.
Ok, I can acccept Habaayib was beaten by a better horse, but his ride on Last Three Minutes in the finale was a complete joke! Why oh why was he in the position he was in a couple of furlongs out, just as the horse started to hit top gear he ran straight up the back of a couple of retreating horses going for a gap that was never gonna materialise in a million years.
I will never, ever back him again!

| Interesting one tonight in the 19.30 at Leopardstown - Napa Starr runs for the Charles Byrnes yard in a 1m1f apprentice handicap. I think this is the only flat horse he has in training, and apparently he is very confident about its chances. Very positive booking in the form of Paul Townend too - 9/4 should be taken IMO.

| TNS to beat Fram at 13/10 (Victor Chandler) I think this is probably the first time TNS have actually played at home in Europe as they used to have to play at Newtown because of ground grading, 2-1 down from the first leg they are a decent outfit and should be able to get a win tonight and that away goal might see them through overall.
Motherwell are 3/4 with the same firm and much as I'd like Llanelli to beat them I fear the scots will get an early goal and then run riot as happened to Llanelli last season in Europe after winning the first leg against FK Ventspils.
