Wolfie wins it 7-6 after being 6-3 down.
Ah well, at least Green will still be able to play in the GSOD.

He has played in PDC Events before (including the World Matchplay) but he has a serious problem with Barry Hearne and it seems he will not play in events such as the Grand Slam whilst Hearne is in charge.
It is covered in this months We Love Darts Magazine though they do not really get to the bottom of it in the interview and I think it has got to the stage where if he did play he would get such a bad reaction from the crowd that he would struggle to play his normal game (a thing BDO players tend to do in the Evening Sessions at Wolverhampton where there is audience noise which they are not used to...though not showing any hostility to them in particular). Conversely a few have played well on the Sunday Afternoon session when the crowds are low and generally more BDO like in their noise levels.

On the PDC site's qualification list it only has a place for the winner but I guess sense will prevail and he will be allowed in to boost the BDO's representation.
Not sure the BBC mentioned the Grand Slam of Darts once but no real surprise there.

I thought it was a good game, I guess you should regard it as watching a 3rd level rugby or football match and comparing it to the Premiership/Super League. It might not have the same quality but probably leads to tighter matches in the main with no Phil Taylor/Saint Helens/Man Utd walking all over Jamie Caven/Celtic Crusaders/Hull.
Shame BBC's coverage was so disjointed and there was something like a 2 1/2 hour gap between the semi's on the red button and the final on BBC2. At least Sky and ITV4 give proper coverage and make it easy for the viewer whears BBC just seem to want to fill a few gaps here and there jusat to keep the Lakeside contract safe.

I agree.
There are some very good close competitive games on show in BDO tournaments, the biggest problem the BDO has (apart from money for players) is the BBC's lack of coverage / poor coverage which prevents fans from watching live darts unless they attend the arenas.

They really need a version of the Premier League to get their players out there. It may not even need television coverage as if you can get 1000 odd people into regional sports centres or theatres in the way the Veterans tournament on setanta last year went you could cover the prize money and raise the profile of the likes of Adams, Hankey, O'Shea etc.
They all seem good at the PR so a few photo/autograph sessions before and after their matches and I am guessing people would turn out.
At least it would show the BDO are doing something for their top players and realising they administer a spectator as well as a participation sport.

Is not that the problem with the players outside of the top 4 or 5, they might take the scalp of a Terry Jenkins or John Part but when it comes to one of the Top 4 they do not seem to have that killer instinct and that goes for the likes of Tabern, Osbourne, Lloyd, Thornton, Lewis, Baxter et al. King made the leap easily and whilst others have had their chance in the last 3 or 4 years no one else has looked like breaking into the elite and staying there.
Nice to see that Dennis The Menace had no such problems against Wade.
The one who we should see soon if he has the killer instinct is Gary Anderson as for a slow starter in tournaments he was impressive on Monday and as much as I like Lewis I think for the competition it is best the Scot wins tonight as Lewis just goes to pieces when he faces Taylor whereas Anderson might just give him a game.

It's a good point. Barney himself looked shot last night though, the chances Tabern had but didn't take shocked me.
Agreed about Dennis too, he put in a superb performace. He threw cracking darts in the deciding leg - a joy to watch.

Was at the Tamworth v York game so did not see last nights darts but everyone knows Barney has been out of form all year but yet he still makes semi's and final's for fun as the players earning a good living and making £100K+ just in prize money seem content with that and not take that extra step and be the next Mervyn King.
The riches of the Premier League were up for grabs earlier in the year but it looks like it will be pretty similar to last year with the top 6 remaining the same and only the wild cards changing (for me Anderson and Priestly as long as an outsider does not become World Champion).
