I guess there's loads of teams in the Conf who could quite easily be in the Football League, such as York, Torquay, Oxford...

Aye, but Donny are and always have been a bigger club than us. We do well, we might get thick end of 4000 through the gate. Do badly and there'll be 2500. What I'm driving at is that success doesn't reflect itself in swollen gates down our way.
It's a bloody hard league to get out of and, while we play some nice football at times, we'll struggle against the bruisers, of which there are many in this league (Histon, Crawley and many others). Think it'll be a case of nearly but not quite again. Torquay are my tips to go up this year.

What do you reckon your chances are this season?

I'd like to think we're play-off material, but think we lack a little bit of quality in key areas now that Martyn Woolford's gone to Scun*horpe. I was worried about the problems we had last year against the more agricultural style of certain teams not being rectified, but we dealt with it pretty well today. Wrexham at home Thursday (live on Setanta) and they've won well today, so we'll learn a bit more then.

Bootle off to a flyer yesterday, 3-0 away at Wigan Robin Park. Wasn't a bad venue and not a far trip either. McDonald made big impact on his debut baggin 2 & life without Andy Fowler begins well.

Fleetwood away at some randoms, called Farsley or something. Should get our first win of the season, after our game on saturday was called off. Can see us going unbeaten in our maiden season in the blue square north, such is the calibre of our players.

Another round of fixtures tonight then, Bootle at home to Daisy Hill. Should really win this one at home another 3 points before going in the extra prelim round of FA Cup.
