I think we should tell United we'll accept £15m - half of the insurance money that they'd be getting when they took Berbatov round the back and shot him.

TBH I think it's a smart move from United. Anelka would be about 10,000 times better than Berbatov. £8m is a bargain for Anelka because he only has a year left on his contract and would easily pay back the transfer fee in 3 or 4 years of service.

Think a lot depends on whether we are going after a one of the strikers we're supposedly after. If we are bringing in another striker then I don't think Anelka will accept an even more subservient role. If we aren't after someone I think we'll re-sign him, although a move to United and playing for all the top 4 in his career would be a first, wouldn't it?

Can't see an iota of truth in that TBH. Don't Man Utd have a policy of not offering more than a year to players already over 30? Can't see them either spending £8m on a player on a 1-year deal or breaking that structure for him when they didn't for Giggs IIRC.

It seems that Sky encourage Thommo's bias, he isn't breaking any laws by doing it. Le Tissier is biased towards Southampton, Stelling is biased towards Hartlepool, Thommo is biased towards Liverpool. He never commentates Liverpool games unless it's something like the Liverpool vs Arsenal game in Europe a few years back (as far as I know), but they'll ask for his views knowing he'll be biased towards Liverpool. Le Tissier, though, always makes those smug, stirring little comments that are said innocently, but you know he's just stirring.

I loved it when Thommo burst out laughing about Moyes' comments saying Everton are just as attractive an investment as Liverpool, or words to those effect.

I can never understand why Drogbarr's free kicks are so effective. They aren't top corner, they aren't on the opposite side to where the 'keeper should be stood, yet he seems to have a habit of finding that bottom left ('keepers) corner. It was a quality goal, worthy of winning the final, but Chelsea should have been long gone.

Thought that a 1-0 scoreline was a ridiculous scoreline for that game. We could have been beating Portsmouth in the manner we did to Wigan and Stoke. Instead they should have taken the lead.

Thought that it was one of the most ridiculous commentators comments in recent times that because Pompey had put together 5 minutes of decent play for the first time before their pen, somehow they'd have taken a deserved lead. A deserved lead??? FFS we hit the woodwork 5 times in the first half.

Just a demonstration of the bias of a football fan in the heat of the moment, I saw Drogba's shot well over the line when it came down off the bar. Balletti didn't touch the diving tvvat for their pen. On the first replay I could see that it was a 100% penalty and Drogba's shot didn't cross the line, but that's not what I saw at the time.

I thought Joe Cole's cameo was a perfect example of what Joe Cole is right now. He had a decent chance that he should have buried, but I think he completely shanked it and was lucky that it hit a defender close by or it would have been seen as the dreadful shot it was. I hope it was his last time in a Chelsea shirt.
