| It was an excellent fightback in the last hour or so by Lancs on what appears to be a very flat track. Too many bad balls early on to create any pressure added to plenty of good shots and a fair few ropey ones into gaps and before you know it the score was a ridiculous 299-2!
However, its rained most of the night and early morning here so whether that will affect the pitch and in what way I'm not sure. If Lancs bat sensibly (miracles can happen!) then we should get somewhere up to the Yorkshire score and then it will be a last innings game and with the weather set fair it could/should be a result game (unless Yorkshire bat forever as they seem to like doing this season!!) With the 2 spinners Yorkshire have got and the runs already on the board then I'd suggest they were slight favourites at the minute.
Oh and Chappie, the Ginger Pig, is a sprightly 36!
Not much older than Fatty McGrath who still gets runs against us. I for one will be very pleased when he packs in!

| Yorks 442-9 at lunch, the last two wickets having so far put on 69.
Well done to Oliver Hannon-Dalby, who has surpassed his best ever first class score to be unbeaten on 10.

| Bloody hell, Lancashire scoring runs?! 75/0 from 17 overs. Am I allowed to dream of the holy grail that is 5 batting bonus points in one game?

Well & truly put the mockers on us there . 170 odd for 6 after a middle order collapse. Typical Lancs though, get a roll on in the T20 and our CC form goes down the swanny .

| Rain forecast on Thurs so Yorkshire need 14 wickets tomorrow to win.
The sad thing is there's probably a good chance it could happen.

| I'd be amazed if Lancs even thought about chasing that total on what appears to be a big turning pitch.
Looks like rain/bad light may just save us. To be totally outplayed for 3 1/2 days but still escape with a draw would be nice especially after being denied a potential win at Headingley due to the dodgy weather. Lancs next 2 CC fixtures are away at Durham & Hants so both winnable and, if won, would put us in a strong position going into the final 6 weeks of the season.

| What on earth happened to Yorkshire in that last over tonight. Northants needed 15 off 3 to tie when I flicked off the Cricinfo scorecard. I turn it back on and somehow they've done it, the penultimate ball being a no ball and presumably a free hit

The question remains, how on earth do you bowl a no ball on the final delivery

Someone should be having a word with Trevor Chappell, get him to give Rich Pyrah some pointers.
After a poor T20 knock yesterday (even allowing for the fact we were missing four first-teamers through injury/illness/rep call ups) it's back on the CC horse against Warwickshire at Headingley today.
Won the toss, opted to bat and 119-1 at lunch. Another 50 for Adam Lyth. If he keeps this up for the next ten years he might get an England Lions call-up.

| Hmmm, interesting days cricket so far.
Yorkies piling on the runs again at Headingley against Warks: 297-4
Notts skittling Essex for 154 but 83-5 in reply
Lancs 0-2 after 4 balls . Looks like a repeat of the Derby match where we lose early wickets then scratch around before setting a modest total which Worcs knock off in 15 overs. Come on Lancy sort the batting out!!!

Have recovered well, Smith has just let loose, and of all things, Chilton, yes, him, is going at a rate of more than a run a ball!

| Good win in the end for Lancs especially after the starts to both innings'. The spinners turned it round yet again when needed, Parry and Kerrigan are coming along a treat.
Tom Smith is now the top run scorer in the northern division and the 3rd top scorer in all. Who'd have thought that??

| Yorkshire 425 all out, the tail not hanging around long in support of Pyrah.
Time for Tino to spray the new ball across various parts of LS6 for a few overs until the spinners get on then...

| Essex: 154 & 316-7 (108.1 overs)
Nottinghamshire: 180 (47.0 overs)
Yorkshire: 425 (124.5 overs)
Warwickshire: 253 & 14-0 (5.0 overs)
Essex going well 2nd time round (touch wood) and hopefully can hang around long enough to set Notts 350+ which will hopefully be too much. Yorkies looking good for the win unless the rain gods can weave their magic .

Instead, he managed to spray Jim Troughton's nose all over various parts of LS6. Got one between the lid and the grille at around the 94mph mark.

Part 1 completed with Essex thrashing Notts.
Part 2 underway with rain forcing the players off at Headingley with Warwickshire 21 ahead with 7 (maybe only 6) wickets in hand
