They could now be relegated from Blue Square Premier and Blue Square North and have a slim chance of playing in the UniBond League next season.

If the Shaymen are relegated at least two divisions, as looks likely, it could mean reprieves for Altrincham who finished twenty-first - the highest of the four relegated clubs in the Blue Square Premier - and Hucknall Town, who finished twentieth in Blue Square North.

Incredibly, it would be the third successive season that Altrincham had finished in the relegation zone, but been reprieved because of other clubs' problems

I would have thought at best they could reform in the North East Counties league Division 1 like Scarborough have done.

You are right about Gigg Lane, however next year is our last year of a 3 year deal to play league games at Bury, so chances are we'll be offski's after that. We've already announced Fa cup/Vase games will be played at Alty next season.

Won't be as good an atmosphere at Alty, I'd have thought - I think the fact that only certain areas of the ground being open etc definitely adds to the atmosphere, although obviously you have to weight that up against the rent issue.

It is sad considering that only two seasons ago they were minutes away from being in the football league. It was that 2006 play-off final against Hereford that proved to be the turning point for the club. Since then it has gone from bad to worse for town and unfortunately the inevitable has finally happened.
