I'm glad some posts have been made about FCUM, as there is somthing regarding the club that i'm unsure of.

Whilst listening to Radio Manchester the other week it mentioned that FCUM had been playing in front of a crowd of around 1500. With all the hype and media attention that they had in their first season I was wondering, what has happened. They were getting far bigger attendanes when they were formed so is this a case of United fans continuing to be fickle or has the novelty factor off watching a non premier league team worn off?

The novelty has probably worn off for some. The crowds have levelled out at between 2000-2500 for most games this season. Plus many still attend OT so when there's a clash the crowd suffers.

Should be a good game tomorrow. We've failed to beat Bamber Bridge in the 3 league meetings so hopefully it's our turn this time. Would be good to see around 2500 there, with 3000+ if we get through to Saturdays final.

I understand what you're saying. However, I was under the impression that FCUM's initial purpose was to provide the disollusioned MU fans with an alternative.

Thought it was a pretty 'watchable' game last night, the standard of play was a lot higher than I might have expected with both sides showing some decent touches; several players caught the eye from both sides.

Brig were certainly the better side in the first half but the likes of Patterson, Carden and Wright have a certain quality about them that could see them be a success at a much higher level on last night's evidence.

I thought FC went ahead against the run of play. The first 15 minutes of both halves FC were clearly on the back foot.

The big lad for Brig Neil Varac caused them all sorts of problems as he was easily winning everything in the air.

The touch by Patterson for Adam Carden in the build up to the first goal was superb and Jerome Wright is like the proverbial sh*t off a shovel. Boy is he quick.

I'm glad I'm in Cardiff on Saturday though.

You're right. But there's many people who couldn't tear themselves away from OT who completely agree with FC United. Many of those people choose to watch both.

By the way, crowd averages over the three years we've been in existence:

2005/2006: 3,052 artificially inflated by the final attendance that was 6k, 2,877 otherwise.
2006/2007: 2,581
2007/2008: 2,086, with a game still to go. Also, we've had less Saturday games this year than last, I believe the Saturday averages are within a few hundred of each other.

So take into account the lack of Saturday games, the fact that we were playing 3 games a week on a few occasions and the fact that you were always going to have a higher average attendance in the first season and it's not actually dropping off as much as people would have you believe.

Yeah I'd agree with that. Was a decent game which could've gone either way. Think we would've struggled if we had gone behind as Brig are pretty hard to break down but you can get em on the break when they have to chase the game.





Not really but quite a few who still attend OT will take their kids to FC cos they can't afford/get tickets to take em to Old Trafford every week.

Just the general atmosphere and the noise. It was superb. The scarf twirling after a goal was pretty impressive. And you'd never guess that Gigg Lane was an all seater

The atmosphere will be superb in a few years time when Leeds are playing non league football.

FC beat Skem 4-1 in the play off final.

Having watched the semi-finals, both of them deserved to be in the final and are both big clubs. I'm sure that either will be able to sustain a place in the footbal league.

Exeter for me, they'll be the new Carlisle if they go up. Huge catchment area.
