| Quote ="Roddy B"I think it would be weird to see Tevez go, and, oddly, I don't think we ever seen the best of him. I was reading a quote a few weeks back (I can't remember who by) which was basically saying England has ruined Tevez, which I sort of agreed with. He works harder than he really should, he probably doesn't show as much ability as he has and I think the emphasis on work rate over here can have a negative effect on players. I remember Tevez at United where it seemed he was played mostly for his work rate, although he had a successful season there, he probably never shown them what he was truly capable of. Similarly at City, he's worked his nuts off when playing, but the player that left South America has changed massively, and I'm not too sure if I really like it.
'"
I could maybe understand your point if Tevez had resembled a player with the skill of Berbatov or Van Persie when he was younger but he simply didn’t. Tevez has never had the technique and skill to be the player you are referring too. Adding hustle and bustle to his game has made him more effective.
England has made Tevez. When he first arrived he was a forward who was difficult to accommodate into a team. Now he is a player who you build a team around. He has developed into a genuine world class lone forward (IMO the hardest role to master in a football team). If he had not changed as a player, from the one that started off, he would not be regarded so highly.
I’m sorry but the last sentence of your post is cringeworthy.

| Arturo Vidal to Juventus for €10.5m to €12m. If he's as good as Robbie says that's an absolute steal.

I must say, i've been impressed with City's handling of the situation. They've granted Tevez's wish and, if Aguero signs, gone out and bought an upgrade for the same price. I would find it even better if Aguero signs, no-one buys Tevez and Mancini sends him out with the reserves which is what he deserves.

I don’t think he is an upgrade. I would like to think he is but I cannot see him being as effective this coming season than Tevez was in 2010/11. Aguero may end up the better player but if it wasn’t for the baggage, I would prefer to retain Tevez.
Corinthians have stated they are interested in signing Tevez at the start of 2012. If that means Tevez stays with City for a few months, thus allowing us to slowly introduce Aguero, then that would be ideal. However, I cannot see him being here from September onwards. He needs/wants to go. I don’t have an issue with that. I don’t expect players to show the same loyalty as fans.
However, I do think he was out of order on a number of occasions – e.g. showing disrespect towards Mancini after being substituted and handing in a transfer request in December.
I see that Joorabchian is now subtley changing the tone of his language and is also now making it look like City are forcing Tevez out because we are bringing in Aguero. So the rumours about Tevez wanting his ‘loyalty bonus’ wasn’t nonsense. Expecting a loyalty bonus after handing in two transfer requests in the past year? Not to mention that Joorabchian has said Tevez knocked back an offer of a wage increase as he wanted to leave so much. Be interesting to see who wins that case.

| Everton reject a £10m bid from Arsenal for Phil Jagielka.....
This is where Man City's heavy-handedness in the market will affect all the others.....Everton got 20 million plus out of City for Lescott and Jagielka is twice the player.
I'd imagine Everton will rightly hold out for about £25 million before getting into any sort of discussion with the Gunners, or anybody else.

Agree with what you're saying about clubs like City distorting the market but with City not interested in Jagielka will Everton be able to play that card with Wenger?
Lescott was never worth anything like what he went for. Everyone except the City board, a few City fans and his mum saw that. How much do you think Jagielka is worth in an honest market? I'd have said around £12 to be honest.

The problem with your 'honest market' suggestion is that the whole thing is so distorted, nobody can seriously put a true assessment on any player any more.
Unless Everton really have to sell, which nobody seems entirely sure about, then I guess they hold the upper hand over Wenger at present, seeing as Jagielka only recently extended his contract.
Obviously, things could change.....He could hand in a request which would leave Moyes in the difficult situation he had with Lescott, where he went into the new season with a wantaway player....In that position, Moyes would probably haggle for the best deal possible (probably £15m max, or more ideally for him, a player exchange deal involving Bendtner and 1 other?).
Ultimately, the Lescott deal set a level mark for Everton, and if Jagielka remains loyal, then that £20m + value will be the benchmark for any offer.

Nothing that I know of, but its obvious that Wenger sees him as dispenable and he's the type of player I think Moyes would be interested in....Whether he would want to move to Goodison is another thing entirely...

There best fooking not be Pointles signing seen as he's absoulte pi$$ poor. I really dislike Bendtner, I'd really hope Moyes doesn't bring him in, having said that we could do with a new striker coming in.
As for the Jagielka thing £10m is an insult seen as Wenger had a £12m bid rejected last year, does he really think Jags' valuation has dropped by £2m idiot. He'd need to double that at least before Moyes would even think about it, one of our top players who's recently signed an extended contract as well so there's no reason for Moyes to even consider it.

| That's not a bad fee for a 29 year old defender with no CL experience. Consider Porto got E22m for Bruno Alves - a superior player with greater experience - then the fee sort of makes sense. Throw in a bit of English premium and Jagielka will probably go for a bit less than £15m (if Everton aren't in dreamland that is).
To be honest, out of the better premier league defenders, Jagielka would have been one of the less suitable players for Arsenal's needs, IMO. They need somebody tall and dominant. Jagielka is a top player who reads play well, but he isn't 'dominant' in terms strength and height. Saying that, it wouldn't surprise me if Wenger ignored it for another season.

Using your approach...
Vincent Kompany is at least twice as good as Jagielka. Kompany cost around £5m. Thus Jagielka is worth around £2m.

| Bojan Krkic press conference at Camp Nou now. Roma will pay €12m but at the end of the 2012/2013 season Barça have first option to buy back at €13m. Roma can keep hold of the little lad but will have to pay €40m for the privilege, an extra €27m for Barcelona.

Why should Jagielka leave for less than £15m? If others clubs are over pricing their players then we can too. He's better than Cahill and Bolton want around £17m for him. Jags has always been very hit and miss at times for me, he's a good defender as you say reads the game well, he's quick and quite strong too but he has his lapses at times as well. He is good in the air though, doesn't dominate and has a big tendancy to let a high or long ball drift over him instead of dealing with it in the air, that's cost us a few times, if they come back around £18m it might be worth thinking about.

Roma have got such a pi$$ poor deal out of that.
If he goes there and he's a success, Roma have to pay 28m in 2 years time to actual sign him.
If he goes there and flops, 12mil is a heck of a lot of money.

The way Sandro Rossell is running the club is very encouraging if you're a Barça fan. Roma would have done them royally under Laporta.

40 million Euros for Bojan is a complete joke, great business from Barca. Agent Luis Enrique is getting to work well.

It's not as ridiculous for Roma as it originally sounds, basically Barca have to buy him back for €13m after the 2 years whether they want him or not, but if he's blossomed into something special Roma can stop that from happening by paying the extra €28m.
In reality if he isn't super special and Roma want to keep him they'll probably get him for a more realistic price if Barcelona don't want or need him back.

Is that how it works then? My understanding of first option is that they get first refusal rather than HAVE to buy him.
