| I don't know if it's been mentioned on here, but how ridiculous is it that Blackpool couldn't get the game on this weekend? A Premiership club unable to put on a playable surface after a bit of snow. Disgraceful.

Very harsh. What’s wrong with ‘posh’ people watching the game? That’s as ridiculous as someone stating that working class people should not watch cricket.
I would imagine that most cricket fans have limited knowledge of the game and don’t even know what a ‘Chinaman’ is, or how to bowl a ‘flipper’, or what position the seam and wrist should be in when bowling an outswinger. I do but it doesn’t make me a ‘better’ fan. TBH I hardly even watch the game nowadays. Too much going on in my life to concentrate on more than one sport.
I personally think it is great to see most of the inhabitants of the country all getting behind a group of people who are representing the country. While at work, I’d much rather over-hear conversations about football rather than X Factor and the likes.
Cheers

It’s interesting to see that fans of other clubs berate the press for making-up stories about the club they support but when a story appears about City it is regarded as the indubitable truth.
We can expect more of this as the team appears to be improving. The hacks who like Harry Redknapp because they feed off his leaks (about Spurs and other clubs) and those who want to suck-up to Slur Alex in order to be welcomed in to his inner-circle of sycophants, will be apoplectic with rage if we make the top 4, and I am sure they will do whatever they can to try and rock the boat.

Good player, but doesn't quite do it all yet, for me. He's so dangerous when he's near the opposition area, or in the opposition area, but I don't think he does it allover the field. Whereas with Fabregas, you get the player than runs the game, links all of the play and still battles. Nasri is a class player though, should be interesting to see what Wenger does if Barca come back for Cesc. If selling Fabregas meant he could sign a centre half, a battling midfielder and a new goalkeeper, I'd probably do it, 'cause Nasri, Ramsey and Wilshere combined would easily fill the void.

| Fickle Geordie c[iu[/ints! There's little more Hughton could've done at the club, promotion at the first time of asking, a decent Carling Cup run, sitting 11th in the league and thrashed their rivals in a recent derby and that deserves a sacking? Unbelievable. Just when you think Mike Ashley and the board can't get any worse they do this. Hughton should feel very very hard done by.

One of the most farcical decisions I can ever remember in football. He took them up with a massive points total when many thought they'd struggle. He guides them to mid-table when many thought they were certs to go down. They win at Arsenal, they beat their local rivals 5-1. As you say, what more could he have done given the limited budget available? If you ask me, the guy had worked a bloody miracle.

| Im absolutely shocked by this i have to say.
Hughton was never my ideal manager, however, he won so many people over, including myself.
He has done a fantastic job with very limited resources.
I really do not know what Mike Ashley's plans are for the club. We seem to have stability at the club, then this happens.
I really do not know what to say. Absolutely ridiculous decision. Ok, we may not know the ins and outs and there may be more to it than it seems, but on face value, it seems a crazy decision.
Let's just hope Joe Kinnear isn't back at the Toon any time soon.

Overheard in the Newcastle boardroom today about him, "What? Him? With Mike Ashley there's already one Joe Kinnear too many."

| Utterly bizarre decision. Unless something has gone on that we're not party to, it just seems a ridiculous decision.
Step in another foreign manager with experience as a lap dog for a once decent team no doubt. Staying up was their target and they're doing it with ease at the moment despite the odd defeat here and there.
But having watched them at the weekend they were terrible and all the commentators mentioned they looked like they were not even trying. This was also mentioned by someone else on the radio later that night, hinting that he didn't have control within the club and the players weren't motivated. Bizarre when you conside the 5-1 thrashing of their rivals and the results against the likes of Chelsea and Arsenal.
But any club with Joey Barton in it is bound to have the odd internal disruption.

| Can't really see any manager with any sense taking the Newcastle job.
It seems the Newcastle board are massively out of touch with reality. Hughton got them back into the premiership and got them mid-table on no money. I really can't see what "someone with more managerial experience" could have done better in his place

They wouldn't.
Mike Ashley wants to run the club on a very low budget it seems, and i don't think it is a coincidence that Hughton has probably been on a very low wage in comparison to other Premier League managers, and has been a good manager that has provided stability and gained promotion for the club/team, to the Premier League.
Then, when his contract is near it's expiring date, and therefore would no doubt have needed an improvement, he is sacked.

| I read somewhere that Martin O'Neill is being lined up for the Newcastle job.
As for Hughton, you have to feel for the poor bloke. He has had limited resources and taken an average team to promotion and now mid table in the Premiership. What more can you ask for? It sums Newcastle up, and it's why no-one outside the club actually likes them. They think they're a huge club based on their crowds.

Agreed. He has done the best with the team he had. An average defence, a midfield lacking any genuine playmaking quality, and one good striker.
Alan Pardew is the odds on favourite, with Curbishley also taking a lot of interest. If it was either of them, I think we will see a fair few torn up season tickets. Will Hill have seen over ten grand gambled on Pardew to get the job.
We don't expect to see Guardiola, but the way Hughton has been treat is terrible.
One theory going through my mind is that the board decided to give him a chance, but not any meaningful money to spend - as they couldn't sack him after we won the title. Wait and see if he can get us stablised, wait for a couple of bad results then sack him and bring in an old pal that was promised the job a while ago, giving him the money to spend that Hughton was denied.

The pictures were obviously fake then. My mistake. I suppose the Tevez strop after being substituted also didn't actually take place.
As for Newcastle, all I can say is bring back Shearer.
