If Brown was really desperate enough to keep hold of him, why not test Sunderland's patience by negiotating every small detail like making sure Hull get 25% of the next sale, a said amount of money after appearances, a hefty amount for an international appearance.

OR, at least bargain the transfer to Sunderland by saying you can have him in January for 1-1.5mill less.

At least in that time period, Hull would more likely know where there at for the following season.

Have a look who the owner is. Might have something to do with the debt the club found itself with towards the end of last season. If I remember rightly 89% of the club's turnover was going on player wages.
