I was still pretty angry over the semi yesterday. I was planning on giving the final a complete miss and going to watch Star Trek at the cinema, but the torrential rain put a stop to that. In the end I turned the game on after about ten minutes (Barca were already a goal up and all the replays had already been shown so I didn't see the goal for a while) and watched it.

I'm very pleased that Man United lost. United winning would have made the semi even worse. So seeing Man United get beaten so easily was good.

Agree totally. It'd have been a totally different game had Barca not taken an early lead last night as well.

The fact that without an incompetent ref Barca wouldn't have even been in the final makes you wonder at why people rush so quickly towards hyperbole over teams.

If Fergie had won yesterday then he'd be lauded as probably the greatest manager of all time, instead questions will be asked and the excitement will be over Guardiola.

I don't care whether the Premier League is the best in the league or not. I'll leave that to the Spanish wannabes to debate. But out of the top 5 strongest sides in Europe, at least 3 of them are from the Premier League. Barca may have given United a beating last night, but Barca were given a similar beating in the semi by Chelsea and they were knocked out by United in the semis last year.

Not read all of the comments about last night, so I might be repeating stuff.

For ten minutes last night I thought we might have a chance. As soon as they scored I knew it was game over. They played some fantastic football at times and we looked ordinary. Never really got back into it. They deserved it and I have no complaints whatsoever. I'm just glad we were in the final again - we had to lose one eventually! And you just know that we'll be back again before too long.

It has been funny seeing the reaction, elsewhere, of city fans, Liverpool fans and, indeed, supporters of every club. Funny how some people need to use other clubs' success to have a go at United because there's not been any at their own!

League Cup winners, FA Cup Semi Finals, European Cup Final, Champions of England for the third time in a row, the eighteenth overall and World Club Champions for the second time. Not been a bad season for United, has it?

However the team that finished 2nd in the Premiership beat the team that finished 2nd in La Liga by 5 goals to nil in the first knockout stage. Surely then that doesn't say much for the strength of the Spanish league.

I'm pretty sure at the start of the year he wasn't picked for a City game because there were rumours he was having a medical at Sunderland or something, only for it to be called off or something. Then the new owners came in and the rest is history, City are massive!

as i've posted on la liga thread. the spanish league resembled the SPL this year with the gap between 2nd and 3rd.

Just think it is pretty sad that Heysel seems to be the 'forgotten' disaster while others get massive amounts of sympathy/media coverage every year.

To be honest only Hillsborough gets it. I'm sure the good people of Bradford and Lincoln remember the fire in the appropriate manner but the rest of the country do not and the same with the Ibrox disaster.

Hillsborough got it this year because it was 20 years on and the fact the lies were coming out of the wood work hardly gets much any other time same with Munich 50 years on loads of media about it this year not as much.

Even more sad when certain fans use the disaster on a banner and in songs to try and wind up other fans, its clear some people use remembering Heysel for other reasons

My God did we miss Fletcher last night. Anderson and Carrick might as well have worn a Barcelona kit, they passed the ball to them more than they did to United players.

Two very, very sloppy goals to concede from United's POV, that said what a ball and finish for Messi's goal. On the night they were the better side by a mile, the only team that turned up. The only two times we looked like scoring, Barca broke and scored, but hey such is life.

Not shocked. But when your phone is vibrating and beeping for 12 hours constantly it gets very, very annoying. But that's what happens when you're one of about 10 United fans living in a Leeds stronghole.
