| Quote ="Gaslight"=#8040FFHe might be past it, but BB likes his vets, and cheap ones who offer something, Pierce offers leadership that was clearly missing this season, even if he's only a 2 down player he would be good for a year or 2 because he's better then Guyton & McKenzie is an unknown because he was IR'd this year.'"
Guyton is a good player IMO hes just young like the vast majority of our D and your right we do need a leader but Pierce isnt it, Mayo will step into that role and do well, theres better LBs out there than Pierce available especially when the no salary cap is confirmed in a few weeks, there will be a load being released with teams able to get rid of the big earners e.c.t, and Im sure no sleeves will take advantage of that as usual

=#8000FFGuyton is good, but he would be far better used on passing downs only (he runs a 4.4 40 which is the same as WR's & RB's) and he seemingly isn't strong enough to shed blocks on running plays (might be why he was undrafted) but before Pierce I'd take Dansby or Ruud, especially Dansby he's a great player and would allow Mayo to move back to WILB where he played at college and in his rookie year.

Haven't they done a reasonably good job of turning these types of guys round before?

Perhaps but they need players that will help them win NOW, not when they have sorted their heads out, which could take a while, they wont be winning the division again that easily next year IMO. They do need a couple of WRs but Matt Jones was terrible in Jacksonville so I cant see him doing much in Cincy.
I cant understand Pacman he has/had all the talent in the world but is just a dick when it comes to his off the field antics

| As a Bengal fan i hope we sign TO, Matt Jones (we have signed him), Pacman
Bring them all in, i don't care about all this 'oh they were criminals lets not go near them.' Its pathetic
If those players can do a job for the team which all 3 of them could and can then they deserve there chance.
Its looking like an uncapped year so signings like this are nifty and smart by Mike and Marvin, its good motivation that we used all last year... a team of rejects that nobody wants. Well they didn't do too bad last season and i'm happy to add a few more of these rejects to the team if it helps to make the team that little bit better.
All these are low risk moves, if the guy screws up hes gone most likely out of the league so they are going to have a big drive to stay and play their hearts out each week.
Keep these signings happening Bengals and keep building a team without spending big..

TO would be good at Cinci i think along with Jones and the bloke with the stupid name that is already there. For me this is a decent short term upgrade. What is happening with Coles next year? I would not touch pacman with a barge pole im afraid.

Disagree about him. I've always been a fan of Matt Jones (admittedly he's done some stupid things), but he was pretty decent as a reciever for the Jags, he has the ability to be an excellent redzone target and showed some very good stuff considering he is a QB convert. Tebow will possibly have to do what Jones did and convert to a different position (TE for Tebow IMO).
The Bengals have no problem with signing idiots and criminals but they do a job for them, if Jones gets straightened out he could be very good. In the long term these kind of signing aren't good at all, but short term they may work.

| =#8000FFStick Tebow at linebacker (played there at some point, as well as TE, HB, QB) with his work rate, attitude & leadership (as well as size/weight) he would probably make a better fist of linebacker then QB in the NFL.

| I suppose with Tebow it all depends were he ends up some teams will see him as being a project QB, some will want him to start straight away, some will want him in the wildcat, some will want him in another position and some will want to stay well away from him because hes rubbish and will take too much time/money to sort out for the NFL!
I hope New England are in the latter camp

=#8040FFBill is too smart to take someone like Tebow, first 4 picks will be a pass rusher, running back, guard & defensive end.
Although I'd like to see him trade 47 & 53 + a 6th for #19 overall (Atlanta) then take Spiller (RB) at 19, Dunlap (DE/OLB) at 22 and Maukice Pouncey (OG/C) at 42, 3 players who could start week 1 and make a difference.

It's feasible that could happen - we have a number of needs on the defensive side of the ball which if they aren't addressed in free agency will be plugged in the draft, so losing a first round pick for multiple picks in the later rounds is a possibility.

=#8040FFEspecially in a draft as deep as this years, if the Falcons did such a trade with New England it would leave them with 3 second round picks to pick up potentially: Terrence Cody (DT), Jerry Hughes (DE - Freeney like speed) and a CB (there's a few that will go in the 2nd but aren't good enough to go at #19)

You'd have to give up more than a 6th for that trade since they don't add up on the TVC. 47, 53 and your 4th (late in that round).
Plus Dunlap i don't think is worthy of the 22nd pick.

=#8040FFWith the Falcons needed defensive players they might offer up 2 2nds + Adalius Thomas.
It depends on what Urban Meyer tells BB what he's like in practice etc and how he interviews, he's the size/weight that BB looks for in a pass rusher to play the "elephant" role (Willie McGinest being the best the Pats have had recently). If it isn't Dunlap at #22 it could well be Brandon Graham who interviewed with the Pats SeniorBowl week.

The Falcons should eat that trade up all day. Your offering more than the TVC (by 15 points) and an additional player, even if they are quite a poor player.
I think the Pats will go with Gresham (TE) and get Graham in round 2. Graham isn't first round worthy and there are comparable players which will be available from round 2.

=#8040FFThe problem is it's nearly impossible to predict a draft with Bill in charge he pulls up some really left field picks, like last year taking Vollmer in the 2nd, everyone calling him a "reach" then by the end of the season was the best tackle on the team. I really hope he drafts Maurkice Pouncey though because he could spend a year at RG replacing Neal, then next year draft his twin brother (staying at Florida for his senior year) then move Maurkice to C where he played in college (bigger & better run blocker then the rather small Dan Koppen) and his brother to RG which would make a very good young O line of Vollmer-Mankins-Pouncey-Pouncey-another draft pick.
Then in 2011 the Pats also have 2 first rounders (one of which is from Oakland so it's pretty safe to say top 10) which could be brought forward in a trade if Bill wanted to draft someone like Rolando McClain or Joe Haden.
Oh I love Combine/draft time trying to guess what the coaches & GM's are thinking.
On one mock draft, here's a trade I wouldn't mind seeing:
*****Trade*****
Washington Trades #34 Overall, and TE Chris Cooley to New England for #22 Overall Pick

Me too. It's interesting who likes who. Consesus was Suh was the number 1 player, Mayock (who i don't neccesary agree with) has McCoy as number 1 now. Also i'm convinced Clausen is the best QB prospect (and i stress prospect) in a long long time and without doubt should be number 1 overall. The Rams guys on here (El Pac, AdamJK) seem to prefer Suh and now some people are suggesting in the media Bradford will be the number 1 QB. I've even seen mocks with Clausen going to the Rams.....at pick 33!!

That would be a disgusting trade. On the TVC that would value Cooley as equivalent to the 74th pick. Not to mention why would the Skins trade one of the best NFL TE's for little benefit. Has Bellicheat got somebody inside the Skins organisation...that is the only way the trade happens!
As an aside i'm liking our rankings in the expert rankings for 2010 on nfl.com, Joe Thiesman has us as number 1! Carriuci, La Canfora and Wyche have us at 3 (overall we are 3 in the expert rankings). Our lowest is 7. I agree with them in ranking us 3, if we sort out the offensive line, which we did and will, and get depth we can make the Superbowl.

Can't see us wanting Thomas, he doesn't fit the Smith style of young, athletic, versatile players on defence. The primary need IMO is a space eater in the middle of the D line to take some attention off the likes of Abraham and Biermann.

=#8000FFAdalius is pretty versatile, he's played OLB, ILB, DE and even safety on a couple of occasions which the Ravens found far more use for then the Patriots who haven't really worked out for him.
A big space eater in the middle of the D well you can't get any more of a space eater then Terrence Cody out of Alabama, I've never seen a bigger player come into the league, he was devastating in a 3-4 so I can only imagine what he would do in a 4-3.
