| I'm no United fan but Clattenberg has got to be stood down over that penalty decision there. Vardy shoves Rafael about twelve feet through the air and he ignores it. Vardy runs into the box and throws himself to the floor at the feet of Rafael with almost no contact and he gives a penalty. Now I have seen them given for that previously, but it just invalidates the decision to not give United the free kick for the blatant shove in the back initially. Bizarre.

Cry me a river. Ashley young thinks it was a penalty
All those united fans jizzing themselves over stupid lop sided signings look like idiots.

I have never seen a more blatant free-kick ignored than that shove in the back, then the dive rounded it off perfectly. Comfortable at 3-1 before that. Not sure about the red card either, De Laet should have walked for a second yellow with that shove on Di Maria. That said, Leicester have been very good on their Premier League return, and they have a great crowd behind them.

It was terrible reffing.
I think there is a possibility that it was a fair shoulder charge initially. I'd have to watch it again but it is possible. But having shown his strength with the first challenge he simply fell to the floor when he felt Rafael close. I'd have booked him for diving for that. But Clattenburg renounced his Man United club membership and gave the pen.
I'm glad that United got screwed by Clattenburg, but there is no doubt he screwed them.
No doubt the genius that is LVG predicted everything that happened in the game like he's predicted all the preceding games. But if he's predicting they are going to be so bad, why doesn't he do anything to change it?

| Great game at the Etihad. I love Zabaleta but that was a crazy challenge when on a yellow.
Very impressed with Mangala's debut especially considering it was his first game in 4 months. Could be a brilliant parnership with Kompany. Seems weird that he is being kept out of France's team by a player that cant get into Liverpool's defense.

| Would anyone else in Roy Hodgson's position be tempted to just tell Liverpool and their players that they will no longer be considered for England selection?
And is there any reason why Chambers is now England right-back ahead of Clyne other than 'he signed for Arsenal'.

No.
Sadly for whoever the England manager is, most of the strongest members of the future squads for England are going to be Liverpool players. Sterling and Sturridge are two of the very few bright spots in a woeful squad. In a position of strength Hodgson would be able to do a Ben Flowers on Brendan Rodgers. But Hodgson isn't in a position of strength, he needs to put on a dress and makeup and meet Rodgers in the hotel of Rodgers choosing.
Quote And is there any reason why Chambers is now England right-back ahead of Clyne other than 'he signed for Arsenal'.'"
I just think it would be funny if Clyne played the race card, just to really mess the situation up.
Walcott going to the his first World Cup. Luke Shaw going to Brazil. Those call ups shame SGE and Hodgson. I haven't paid any attention to Clyne so can't offer an opinion, but that's possibly another situation when an England manager suddenly decides to rate a player because a big clubs manager has signed him.

Am I the only person who thinks Sterling is a bit overrated?? ....
He looks great in the middle third of a pitch, with the ball at his feet and a bit of space around him, but, from what I've seen of him, his final ball is absolutely terrible - He also seems to have the bizarre habit of getting his feet in a tangle whenever he is in a position to shoot.
Of course, he has plenty of time to improve, but, if you believe the media, he is already good enough to be a Real Madrid Galactico - I'd suggest he signs a new contract at Liverpool, because all he would get at the Bernabeu is splinters in his backside.

| Wow. Fellaini take a bow. Always loved him at Everton. Sod playing him in defensive midfield, get him up front. It was always his best position for Everton, when we had no half decent strikers. No defense in world football could cope with him, especially when you've got Di Maria and Mata teeing him up.

| Incredible to see how poorly United are defending. A high line, enormous gaps between the centre back and fullback, just begging to be cut apart on the counter by anyone with even a slight hint of pace.
Two centre backs needed in January if they are to get into the Europa this season. Van Persie must be a concern for them as well. I've never seen a player go from peerless to powerless so quickly. He's aged 10 years in a season.

Apart from his last season at Arsenal and first at MU he's always been a massive sick note. He's 31 now so it's likely he's really feeling all those injuries adding up.

| Van Gaal is a managerial genius, isn't he?...... All that money on all that supposed quality, yet when it all comes down to it, you simply play the 'hoof it up to the big man' tactic??..... Brilliant!!...

| Liverpool are a joke, tried to tell you all in January. Rodgers is a pretender, helped by having the exceptionally talented racist and no other comps to worry about. Spent £100 million to strengthen and ballsed it up. The kings of cringe are back off their perch.

| I thought the Hull defender blocked off Cahill's run by closing down the available space and the only options available to Cahill were to run straight into the defender or go down.
Thought the ref actually got that call right.
The decision will have also been influenced by the fact he was lenient towards Myler who was already on a booking and then barged into the back of an attacking player and then threw a tantrum over it. Having been lenient with Myler he again gave the benefit of the doubt to Cahill.
The booking for Costa was an absolute travesty. A clear foul on Costa where the Hull player either caught him on the shin or pretended he was going to catch him on the shin and just pulled out.
The booking for Willian was also wrong IMO. Willian had beaten the defender, the defender just planted his foot to trip him, Willian had nowhere to go so went over rather than running into him and risking injury for both players.
I know that during the match there was a huge whine from West Ham about the pen Sunderland got. But IMO there was a clear shove in the back from the West Ham defender which is a foul. I don't think it was enough to push him over, but if you give an attacker a shove in the back in the penalty area then you're asking for a pen to be given. The simple option for defenders is to stop shoving players in the back, but that's too much like hard work for defenders, isn't it?
