| Quote ="John_D"Lots of hoo-hah over England resting players for the final ODI, especially Bresnan who has only played two internationals on his home ground.
How are we all feeling about this rotation policy?'"
I think it's fairly understandable for some players but isn't Broad one of the players being "rested"? And if so didnt he get rested for the last test match too meaning he's only had 2 days cricket since the 2nd test. And how much more cricket will he get before the start of the SA series?
As a punter, if you pay full price for a ticket shouldn't you be seeing the full team?

You're paying to see the England team and the guys coming in are very much part of that. What I think is important is when to rotate. Bresnan playing at Headingley is a big deal, ditto Broad at Trent Bridge and so on.
The workloads, especially of the bowlers, does need managing, but only because of stupid 5-match ODI series like the one against Australia shortly and the one in India last year. Utterly pointless. We go to NZ next year to play three Tests, three ODIs and three t20s. That looks pretty much bang on to me.

For none clickers of Daily Mail links (like me), he's basically had a go at Athers for doing his job as a journo because his Test average is lower than some of the people he's criticised while doing his job.
It's the worst sort of argument from Flintoff. Of course you can criticise if you don't have the same Test record as somebody, so long as you do it with reasoned argument. Anyway, Atherton's batting average is better than Fred's, so how come he's able to criticise Athers? Is Anthony McGrath the only person Flintoff is willing to take criticism from?

| Ah, Flintoff. An entire media career off the back of one Ashes summer and an irresponsible attitude to drink. Stick to being Corden's straight man. Looks like rotation will be irrelevant, unless they fancy playing water polo instead. Another financial disaster for Yorkshire.

| Wet as an otter's pocket in Leeds. Apparently they need to be underway by 4.30pm to get a 20-over thrash in and that looks doubtful.

| Azeem Rafiq getting first crack at captaining Yorkshire in Gale's injury absence. Good to see brave choices being made.

He's done the last couple hasn't he? Youngest ever Yorkshire captain and first of Asian heritage.

| Aye, former England Under 19s skipper if I remember rightly. In your face, confident character, which probably explains why Gillespie rates him as a leader.

| Top Test series tomorrow and provisional World T20 squad named now. No KP, as expected. Cook is in, so are Gareth Batty (what?), Joe Root (yeah, OK) and Matt Prior (hallelujah). Oh, and Luke Wright (Seriously?). 30 names to be whittled down to 15 by August 18.
Anyway, Test matches. Bring it. Should be a real ding-dong. Difficult to think of a series with two such potent attacking sides with bat and ball.

Very highly. He's been getting runs in all forms and made a maiden double hundred in the championship last week.

deserves a crack then ?
or will the old excuse of him "being not ready yet" come into play ?
by the time he is "ready" he's too old and all the good things have been coached out of him.....
not that i'm cynical or anything ?

It's t20. Stick in players who are in form and let em have a swing.
He's a good kid, old head on his shoulders and all that. Nowhere near Test selection, or ODIs, but could be an option in the shortest form if there are several withdrawals.

| Bit of an odd game so far. Strauss out for nothing after a delay to the start, but seemed a bit easy out there since that to the point at which Cook slams Steyn into the crowd - via a bit of an edge, admittedly.

| Looking at tickets for the T20 match at Old Trafford. How can the ECB charge the same price for a T20 v SA as they did for a ODI against Australia?? Shocking.

| Taylor would seem to be next cab off the rank.
Mind you, Nick Compton best fills the selection criteria.
